National Home Doctor Service fights inquiry over 'contract doctors'

Private equity-backed National Home Doctor Service is trying to thwart a federal investigation into whether certain doctors in its business should be considered staff or contractors.

It is challenging in the Federal Court a finding by the professional standards review agency that 56 doctors working with NHDS could be employees. While none of these doctors are being investigated over taking advantage of loopholes in the Medicare system, other doctors who have previously worked with NHDS are being investigated.
