The Star disguised $900m to help high rollers gamble

The Star Entertainment Group disguised as “hotel expenses” some $900 million in transactions linked to Chinese high rollers to help them circumvent rules and access cash to gamble at its flagship casino in Sydney, a NSW inquiry has heard.

The inquiry also heard a Star senior manager “misled” the National Australia Bank when the bank queried the activities after China Union Pay (CUP), a financial services company, raised concerns about the “suspicious” transactions.
