Outgoing chairman John O’Neill says a good suggestion would be to require Star Entertainment to install a separate, independent board for its Sydney business focusing on NSW compliance, as the inquiry into misconduct will decide on whether the casino keeps its licence.
Inquiry head Adam Bell, SC, floated the idea of requiring Star to set up governance structures dedicated to ensuring it complies with NSW laws, mirroring concerns raised by WA and Victorian royal commissions into rival Crown Resorts that national gambling companies cannot adequately focus on state concerns.
