The royal commissioner inquiring into Crown Resorts has accused the company’s executive chairman, Helen Coonan, of interference after she wrote to Victoria’s gaming minister warning of “catastrophic consequences” if his inquiry makes adverse findings against its Melbourne licence.
Royal commissioner Ray Finkelstein, QC – who will decide if Crown is fit to operate its flagship casino in Melbourne – told the inquiry on Thursday a “plain” English reading of the letter was that Crown was seeking to interfere.
