Blackstone’s Crown Resorts mulls sale of luxury Melbourne golf course

Embattled gambling and hotel group Crown Resorts is considering selling one of the country’s most prestigious golf courses, the Capital Golf Club, to a group of wealthy Melbourne businessmen in an attempt to shore up its finances at a time when many high-rollers are avoiding Australian casinos.

Designed by champion golfer Peter Thomson and opened in 1997, Capital was reserved for the casino’s highest paying customers and celebrities, including Tiger Woods and Canadian pop star Celine Dion. But it has been largely empty after the COVID-19 pandemic and a crackdown on junkets from China kept wealthy gamblers away.
