'Natural' for home owners to use tax cuts to pay down debt
The chief executive of Australia's second-largest mutual bank says thrifty home owners are more likely to use the federal government's tax cuts to pay down debt than they are to spend the money.
Newcastle Permanent chief executive Bernadette Inglis said although she did not have a crystal ball, it "would be a very natural thing" for borrowers to put tax cuts toward their mortgages based on recent customer behaviour.
