The superannuation fund aligned with Australia's most militant union is poised to merge with the fund traditionally joined by journalists, The Australian Financial Review can reveal.

Construction industry fund Cbus, which has $56 billion in assets under management, is in tie-up talks with $6 billion Media Super.
