Industry superannuation doyen Ian Silk has stepped down as chief executive of Australia’s largest pension fund after 15 years at the helm, to be replaced by former union boss Paul Schroder.
AustralianSuper chairman Don Russell said Mr Silk had discussed the possibility of leaving the mega-fund over several months and worked with the board on a succession plan and review of external candidates before landing on the insider Mr Schroder.
