Insurer IAG estimates the bill for NSW-Queensland flooding will fall below where its own catastrophe reinsurance protection kicks in, meaning damage might be smaller than initially feared.
But the estimate comes as analysts worry about a surprising spike in wild weather claims in January and February for Sydney-based IAG.
