The former chairman of the nation’s prudential regulator, Wayne Byres, has been appointed to the ASX board as the market operator faces a range of governance questions after its failure to replace ageing but crucial infrastructure.
It’s the second major appointment since Mr Byres left the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority in October 2022 after eight years as chairman; in January, he joined Macquarie’s banking subsidiary as a director. His term as a non-executive director of ASX begins on Monday.
