ASIC launches investigation into ASX’s December settlement failure

The corporate regulator has launched an investigation into the failure of a critical ASX platform in the week before Christmas that restricted the settlement of trades made on the bourse for days.

The ASX confirmed the investigation in a brief note to investors. The Australian Securities and Investments Commission is making inquiries into whether its settlements subsidiary breached corporations laws.
