AMP fined $24m for charging dead clients in watchdog crackdown
The Federal Court has fined wealth giant AMP $24 million for charging thousands of dead clients for insurance and financial advice despite knowing they had passed away, as the corporate watchdog clamps down on dodgy insurance and superannuation practices.
In a separate case on Friday, the court also fined MLC Life Insurance $10 million for failing to pay nearly 120 disabled or injured clients for rehabilitation programs it had promised to cover.
