Woodside boss urges states to join WA in ending emissions regulation

Woodside Energy Meg O’Neill has lauded the West Australian government for handing responsibility for policing greenhouse gas emissions to the federal government, urging other states and territories to do the same.

The WA government this week stripped its Environmental Protection Agency of the ability to assess major projects on their emissions, citing constitutional legal advice it claims made state powers redundant after the Albanese government legislated its so-called safeguard mechanism last year.
