Macfarlane withstands Woodside investor backlash over climate
Former Howard government minister Ian Macfarlane has been re-elected to the board of Woodside Energy, surviving a push by major investors to censure the company over its reporting of climate-related issues.
The oil and gas major also faced a shareholder backlash on its remuneration report – although the vote against was 20.99 per cent, short of the 25 per cent needed to record a first strike – at its annual meeting on Friday. The vote was held amid a heavy police presence and a protest in Perth.
