Transgrid’s plan to streamline $8b grid build-out
NSW power grid owner Transgrid is seeking to shave $500 million off the $8 billion cost of transmission projects and bring forward the timing of some lines needed to support the accelerating transition to low-carbon energy, despite local community opposition and rising costs across the economy.
Chief executive Brett Redman said urgent action is needed to bring forward the timing for renewable energy to deliver power to homes and businesses, pointing to the earlier than anticipated exit of coal power stations.
