Snowy Hydro's ambitions to expand gas-fired power generation extend beyond the Hunter Valley in NSW with chief executive Paul Broad revealing a keen appetite to expand two existing plants in Victoria, where he says renewables are running ahead of the ability to firm them.
Mr Broad said Snowy is examining expansions at its Valley Power and Laverton North sites to support the flood of renewables coming online in Victoria despite pressures on the balance sheet given heavy upcoming expenditure for the Snowy 2.0 megaproject.
