Scrapping carbon capture funding a ‘giant step backwards’

Santos chief executive Kevin Gallagher says the Albanese government is “out of touch” after Tuesday’s budget stripped $250 million from carbon capture and storage projects.

Mr Gallagher, whose company is building a CCS project at its Moomba gas plant in South Australia, said Australia was falling behind other countries in deployment of the technology, which was needed to reach net zero emissions.
