Miners urge Minns to speed up mine approvals after $2.7bn royalty hike

NSW’s largest miners have demanded the Minns government speed up approvals and be more transparent over planning decisions if it is to restore investment certainty after imposing a $2.7 billion coal royalty tax hike.

A day after it extended a possible lifeline to keep the state’s largest coal-fired power station in operation for longer, the government on Wednesday announced it would increase coal royalties by 2.6 percentage points from July next year.
