Energy Security Board chairwoman Anna Collyer says the more expensive voluntary model chosen to help fix transmission congestion on the grid from the influx of renewables will ultimately deliver more benefits for consumers and result in fewer carbon emissions.
Amid criticism from former ESB chairwoman Kerry Schott about energy ministers dumping a plan to charge new solar and wind farms for the transmission costs of their supply, Ms Collyer said the correct decision had been made and the ESB’s views had changed.
