The Albanese government must introduce new measures to boost the uptake of renewables in the existing power grid at least cost for consumers, say energy industry players who warn that without a renewed push Australia risks missing its 2030 targets.

The warning was led by Climate Change Authority chairman Matt Kean, who said that the Albanese government would need new policy ideas to meet an end-decade goal for 82 per cent renewable energy, despite the expansion of the Capacity Investment Scheme to underwrite clean energy projects.
