Former Snowy Hydro chief executive Paul Broad reckons that Australia’s massive energy transition challenge is in “big trouble”. A former Treasury official, Mr Broad was the former boss of Hunter Water in NSW who introduced user-pay charges.

That was part of the revolution in rational economic thought during the reform era of the 1980s and 1990s that also led to the creation of the National Electricity Market.
