The Albanese government has redirected money from the Coalition’s pet projects to help fund its $25 billion push to cut carbon emissions by 43 per cent by 2030.
While most of the big-ticket items in Tuesday’s budget – such as the $20 billion Rewiring the Nation for transmission projects – delivered election commitments, the budget papers did reveal an unpicking of the Morrison government’s energy policies and money being diverted to Labor projects.
