Inquiry leaves door ajar for WA gas exports
Western Australia’s onshore gas producers should be allowed to export to international buyers – but only if the industry can address a looming domestic shortfall, a state parliamentary inquiry has found.
Western Australia faces a shortfall of up to 30 per cent of its total gas demand in the next decade and the government should bolster domestic reserves by writing new laws to police the industry, said the inquiry’s report, released on Thursday.
