Hard to see the ‘shrinking ASX’ reversing: Goyder
The energy transition and a battle for battery metals was a key driver behind the Australian sharemarket shrinking for the first time since 2005, says former OZ Minerals chairman Rebecca McGrath.
Leading company directors including Ms McGrath, Graham Bradley and Richard Goyder said a surge of consolidation, the rise of superannuation funds, private equity and heavier red tape for listed companies were behind the sharemarket shrinking by $43 billion.
