Shell, Macquarie and Origin Energy are thought to be among backers of giant wind power ventures off the Victorian coast that are scrambling to resolve overlaps between their proposed projects and those of rivals and secure licences to proceed.
Some are understood to have meetings scheduled this week with the National Offshore Petroleum Titles Administrator – also responsible for offshore wind – as they seek clarity on the race for feasibility licences to participate in what is regarded as one of the world’s most promising regions for the power source.
