Wholesale power prices down 50pc

The Albanese government’s 12-month intervention into the energy market is already having an impact, bringing down wholesale electricity prices in NSW and Queensland by up to 50 per cent in 2023, according to Australian Energy Regulator head Clare Savage.

But energy experts remained sceptical that the predicted drop in wholesale prices would flow through to lower retail prices next financial year, saying they might just lower the size of the increase in 2023-24.
