After years as a global leader in carbon capture and storage, Australia is rapidly losing ground, posing a serious threat to reaching net zero emissions by 2050 and a $600 billion opportunity.
When Santos last October started up its $US220 million Moomba CCS project in South Australia’s Strzelecki Desert, it meant Australia had the world’s largest and third-largest projects involving capturing and burying CO₂ emissions for permanent disposal.
