Tech billionaire Mike Cannon-Brookes says AGL Energy’s almost total disregard of the need to decarbonise in the documentation for its demerger will persuade many institutional shareholders to vote against the split.

Speaking as he steps up his campaign to derail the demerger and force a swifter exit from coal power, the Atlassian co-founder said he was disappointed and surprised that the demerger scheme booklet released on Friday almost ignored the critical issue of energy transition, which shareholders have made clear they want action on.
