Government rejects stranded Bahijah’s live export bid

The federal government has refused to allow the live export ship Bahijah to return to the Middle East with livestock onboard, leaving tens of thousands of animals stranded onboard the vessel in Fremantle.

The Department of Agriculture on Monday afternoon confirmed it had refused the export application for the vessel to round the Cape of Good Hope for Israel after it was forced to return to Australia from the Red Sea earlier this month.
