Making sport compulsory at school could be next step
The news that the Victoria Opposition would introduce compulsory competitive sport into state schools if elected, has reignited a debate about not only the benefits of sport in schools, but what kind of sport and with what kind of intensity it should be played.
The Victoria Opposition Leader Matthew Guy unveiled a plan that would see year 7 pupils in three regions of the state compete in a number of sports. The sports program would be expanded around the state and to other year levels.
