Matt Comyn fears AI could make us the ‘left behind country’

The Commonwealth Bank boss doesn’t subscribe to AI doomsday scenarios but says we still need to ask: what if they’re right?

Every good summit needs a provocateur. At the Financial Review AI Summit, that role fell to Liesl Yearsley, the founder of Australian artificial intelligence start-up aKin.

Yearsley says Australia is grossly underestimating the scale of the change AI will bring, which she says is akin to the shift from agrarian economies to industrial ones.
