Cboe-owned Chi-X still far from challenging ASX
The arrival in Australia of Cboe Global Markets, one of the world’s largest exchange holding companies, will enhance competition but it won’t be a game-changer.
All the bullish talk of increased competition in the Australian equities market following Cboe Global Markets buying Chi-X needs to be tempered with a reality check.
The first and most telling point is that the ASX was dominant in cash equities when Chi-X started in Australia a decade ago and it remains so.
