Westpac rules out Adani Carmichael coal loan

Westpac appears to have slammed the door shut on lending to Adani's Carmichael coal project in Queensland, after making changes to its lending policy on Friday.
Less than a month after anti-Adani protesters disrupted Westpac's 200th anniversary event, the bank has declared it will not lend to new mines in previously undeveloped coal basins and nor will it lend to new mines that produce coals with low energy content.
