Rio Tinto has been told it is not the focus of a Swiss investigation into alleged bribery of Mongolian officials almost a decade ago.

The investigation by the Swiss Attorney-General stunned Rio when it was confirmed last week, as the miner and its Mongolian-focused subsidiaries had not been contacted by the Swiss authorities and only learned of it through press reports.
