NRL chief says streamers are ‘apex predators’ looking at sports rights

Netflix, Amazon and Disney+ are apex predators with growing appetites for sport, the chief executive of the NRL says, but codes have to be careful not to carve up games between too many media platforms at the expense of fans.

The NRL will soon kick off a pitch for its broadcast rights, which are now split between Nine Entertainment and Foxtel and due to expire in 2027.
