‘Do we just keep fighting?’ Morrison’s advice to Zelensky

February 24, 2022. Russian missiles struck Ukrainian cities before dawn, and Scott Morrison’s government “staunchly” supported Kyiv’s territorial integrity. Russia needed to “stop violating Ukraine’s independence”, the then-prime minister said. “Australia will continue playing our part to ensure Russia pays the high price this invasion warrants.”

Fast forward three years to the Financial Review Business Summit dinner on Tuesday, where Morrison was a guest speaker. In government, Morrison had a strong relationship with the first Trump administration. Now, he’s even more MAGA-literate. He’s working with people who have deep ties to the US president, including Robert O’Brien and Mike Pompeo. He spent New Year’s Eve at Mar-a-Lago.
