SATURDAY, AUGUST 29
MAN CRITICAL AFTER ADELAIDE HIGH SCHOOL ASSAULT
A man is fighting for life in hospital after he was attacked by a group of men in the carpark of Adelaide High School.
Staff at the Royal Adelaide Hospital called police about 11.40pm on Friday to report that a man had been brought in about 10pm that night after being assaulted by four men at the West Terrace school.
The 24-year-old man remains in a critical condition and police are trying to work out if the victim and the suspects knew each other.
Investigators believe the victim may have visited the Welland Shopping Centre carpark earlier in the evening and ask anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in either area to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report it online at crimestopperssa.com.au.

MAN DROWNS AT ARNO BAY
A man from NSW has drowned at a beach on the Eyre Peninsula on Friday morning.
It is believed the man, 40, was swimming at the Arno Bay beach when he drowned.
His body was pulled from the water by his friend about 6.30am.
Police say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death at this time.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
FATAL CRASH NEAR STRATHALBYN
Two women have died in a head-on road collision near Strathalbyn.
Just after 2.30pm on Friday, two cars collided on Long Valley Road, about 4km north of the town.
SERIOUS CRASH AT EVANSTON GARDENS
A motorcyclist has suffered serious injuries after crashing at Evanston Gardens.
Police say the rider crashed on Hindmarsh Boulevard just after 5pm on Friday.
Major Crash officers are examining the scene and road restrictions are in place.
TWO TRUCK CRASHES ON S-E FREEWAY
Two trucks have collided on the South-Eastern Freeway, causing heavy traffic delays.
A B-double ran into the back of another B-double between Mount Barker and Callington at about 6.50am, bursting into flames, but the drivers escaped with only minor injuries.
Meanwhile, a car and a truck also collided on the freeway on Friday morning just hours after the first smash.
No one was injured in the incident, which occurred at about 9.45am near Bridgewater, and traffic was not affected.
THURSDAY, AUGUST 27
TRUCK ROLLOVER CAUSES DELAYS
Motorists can expect delays this morning as crews attend to a truck rollover at Murray Bridge.
The truck was travelling at the intersection of Jervois Road and Flagstaff Road when it rolled, carrying 40-50 tonnes of refrigerated pork around 1.15am Thursday.
The driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Flagstaff Road remains closed while the heavy vehicle recovery unit clears the scene.
TWO ARRESTED AFTER STOLEN CAR FOUND DUMPED
Two people, including a 15-year-old driver, have been arrested after allegedly leading police on a pursuit in a stolen car through the northern suburbs this morning.
Police spotted the black Mazda travelling along Cavan Rd around 2.15am on Thursday. They followed the car at a distance north as it continued on to Port Wakefield Rd, towards Bolivar. Police activated lights and sirens, attempting to stop the car before it reached the Northern Expressway, but the driver allegedly refused to stop and sped off.
The car was found abandoned a short time later north of the expressway.
Patrols cordoned the area and used and police dog Stoic to trace the two occupants near Huxtable Rd, where they were arrested.
A 15-year-old Parafield Gardens boy was charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle, failing to stop and driving unlicensed.
An 18-year-old Andrews Farm man was charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle. They were bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Youth Magistrates Court at a later date. The car was reported stolen from Modbury on August 23.
MAN DIES IN NOVAR GARDENS SMASH
A man has been died in a crash after his car collided with a tree at Novar Gardens. Another man who was a passenger in the car was taken to hospital for treatment.
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 26
MAGIC MUSHROOMS, CANNABIS FOUND
Two 20-litre paint tubs concealing magic mushrooms and dried cannabis have been found during a traffic stop.
Two people have been charged with serious drug offences after a traffic stop on Port Road, just outside the CBD, about 9pm on Tuesday.
Patrols stopped a Holden VE Commodore with cause to search the car. Police will allege they found the drugs and equipment in the paint tins.
After the stop, Southern District detectives searched a Morphett Vale home and allegedly uncovered more than $10,000.
The driver, a 20-year-old Morphett Vale man, was arrested and charged with two counts of trafficking a controlled drug and unlawful possession. He was refused bail and will appear at Adelaide Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
The passenger, a 19-year-old Onkaparinga Hills woman, was arrested and charged with two counts of trafficking in a controlled drug. She was bailed to appear at Adelaide Magistrates Court in November.
TUESDAY, AUGUST 25
ETHAN LYNCH WANTED OVER STABBING
Police are searching for a man wanted over a stabbing at Ingle Farm earlier this month.
Ethan Lynch, 28, is alleged to have been involved in an incident on Sunburnt Street just after 5am on Sunday, August 9.
A 27-year-old man was stabbed in the stomach and treated in the Royal Adelaide Hospital.
On Tuesday, officers arrested a man, also 27, of Bedford Park, and charged him with aggravated assault causing serious harm and affray.
He was remanded in custody after appearing in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court.
Authorities released an image of Lynch, who is wanted for the same offence. His whereabouts are currently unknown.
Police described him as being caucasian, 170cm tall with a slim build and a long, brown, curly mullet.
He has brown eyes and heavily tattooed arms.
Anyone who sees Lynch should not approach him, but report sightings to police on 131 444.
Information on his whereabouts can be provided anonymously to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
CAT DIES IN GLENSIDE FIRE
Five cats have been rescued from a unit fire at Glenside that killed a sixth pet.
The alarm was raised when black smoke was seen coming from a third floor unit at a complex on Portrush Rd about 7pm on Monday.
A bar heater left unattended ignited a fallen cushion in the lounge room.
More than 20 firefighters responded and extinguished the blaze in 10 minutes.
No one was home at the time.
The five rescued cats were taken to the vet.
The blaze caused $30,000 damage.
CANNABIS PLANTS, DRUG LAB DISCOVERED AT HAPPY VALLEY
A man has been arrested after police discovered 40 cannabis plants and a secret drug lab inside his Happy Valley home.
Police allege the plants were growing hydroponically in two sheds and a room inside his house on Seaview Drive.
A clandestine drug lab was also found just before 3pm on Monday.
Officers arrested the man, 54, and charged him with manufacture a controlled drug and cultivate commercial quantity of cannabis.
He was refused bail as Drug and Organised Crime Task Force officers dismantled the lab and seized the plants.
The discovery comes after a massive drug lab was dismantled at Morphett Vale – less than 10km from Happy Valley.
SA Police said the lab, capable of producing 120kg of methamphetamine a week, was one of the biggest they had seen.
A 42-year-old man living at the home was arrested and charged with manufacturing a controlled drug, and trafficking a large commercial quantity of a controlled drug.
MOONTA HOUSE FIRE
A vacant home on the Yorke Peninsula has been destroyed by fire which may be suspicious.
Police are investigating the blaze on Morcombe Road, Moonta, which was reported by a neighbour just before 4am on Tuesday.
Firefighters took an hour to extinguish the fire.
Fire Cause investigators will examine the scene on Tuesday.

THREE-CAR CRASH AT ATHELSTONE
A man who left the scene of a crash after driving into two parked cars may be charged with drink driving, police say.
Police were called to Stradbroke Road, Athelstone, after a Toyota sedan hit two parked cars in the street just after 2.30am on Tuesday.
The driver, a 47-year-old man from Montacute, left the scene but returned a short time later. He was uninjured but was taken to Royal Adelaide Hospital to have blood taken.
Police say the man could be charged with drink driving after the blood analysis.
All three cars were towed from the scene and investigations are continuing.
ELIZABETH NORTH HOUSE FIRE
A house has been severely damaged by fire in Adelaide’s northern suburbs.
Police and MFS crews are at the scene of the blaze on Ashley Street, Elizabeth North, after it became engulfed in flames about 6am on Tuesday.
There was no one at home at the time.

WOMAN BITES ATTACKER TO ESCAPE
A woman was pushed up against a wall and indecently assaulted by an unknown man at Elizabeth South on Sunday night.
She was walking north on Blake Road, when she was approached by the stranger from behind about 7.15pm.
The man pushed her up against a wall and assaulted her.
The victim managed to escape by biting the man’s hand.
He is described as about 177cm tall with pale skin.

MAN SETS FIRE TO CAR AT SALVOS
A man is on the run after setting fire to a car in the Salvation Army’s underground carpark on Pirie Street.
Police say the man, who was caught on CCTV, set fire to a piece of cardboard before placing it under a Toyota Camry in the car park about 4.30pm on Sunday.
Officers were unable to find the man, who was last seen walking north towards Grenfell Street.
ELIZABETH EAST UNIT FIRE
Police are investigating a suspicious unit fire at Elizabeth East.
Firefighters were called to blaze at a block of units on Yorktown Road just after 9.30pm on Sunday.
People were evacuated from several units within with the fire was extinguished.
One unit was badly damaged while multiple adjoining homes were impacted by smoke.
Northern District detectives and fire cause investigators inspected the scene.

TRUCK FIRE ON SE FREEWAY
About 2000 chickens have died in a truck fire on the South Eastern Freeway, with warnings the blaze will cause congestion chaos for motorists driving to the city during peak-hour traffic.
VAN DESTROYED IN ARSON ATTACK
A van has been gutted by fire at Lightsview.
Residents heard loud bangs and called emergency services to report a car fire on Wyatt Street about 3am on Monday.
The white Mercedes van was well alight before it was extinguished.

PEDESTRIAN DIES ON SE FREEWAY
A young man has died after he was a hit by a truck on the South Eastern Freeway on Sunday night.
The 19-year-old, of Millicent, was walking on the freeway at Murray Bridge just before 10.30pm.
He was then hit by a truck travelling west, about one kilometre from Swanport Bridge.
The 19-year-old died at the scene.
Major Crash officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
There have now been 60 lives lost on South Australian roads this year, compared with 75 at the same time in 2019.
DOUBLE MURDER IN THE STATE’S SOUTH EAST
Police are at the scene of a double murder in the state’s South East this morning.
SERIOUS CRASH AT IRONBANK
Two people are in hospital after a serious crash at Ironbank in the Adelaide Hills, where a car collided with a tree.
Police were called to Ironbank Road around 5.15pm Saturday after reports a Toyota Station Wagon crashed into a tree.
The two occupants of the car, a 47-year-old Glengowrie man, and a 50-year-old Aberfoyle Park woman were taken to the Flinders Medical Centre. They are being treated for non life threatening injuries.
Major Crash Investigators attended the scene and are examining the circumstances that led to the crash.
Ironbank Road was reopened to traffic about 11pm Saturday.

DRIVER ARRESTED AFTER SPEEDING THROUGH BORDER CHECKPOINT
A driver has been arrested after he sped through a border checkpoint near Bordertown on Friday. Police say a Ford Falcon, with no registration plates, drove through a border checkpoint near Bordertown about 11.45am Friday, without stopping.
Police pursued the vehicle for a short distance before terminating the pursuit.
The Ford was found abandoned in Eveline Street, Bordertown, around 1.30pm that day, and was seized by police.
Following investigations, police arrested the alleged driver at Bordertown a short time ago.
The 29-year-old Bordertown man was charged with breaching a COVID-19 direction.
He was refused police bail, to appear in the Mount Gambier Magistrates Court on Monday.
