SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 13
PARAFIELD GARDENS RAPE
A northern suburbs man has been arrested for a sexual assault that allegedly occurred at Parafield Gardens.
The 18-year-old man from Adelaide’s northern suburbs is said by police to have met a woman at Parafield Gardens on Thursday night before they both walked to a nearby location where he allegedly sexually assaulted the woman.
Detectives from the Northern District Investigation Branch arrested the man on Saturday and charged him with four counts of rape and one count of sexual manipulation.
He was refused police bail and was due to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Monday, February 15.
DRIVER SLAPPED WITH HUGE FINE
A driver has been slapped with a huge fine after he was caught at nearly 50km/h over the limit at Evanston South.
The 28-year-old local man was fined $2508 after being caught by police allegedly speeding at 139km/h in a 90km/h zone on Main North Road.
The man’s fine was increased as he was driving his Ford sedan with an existing defect notice.
CANNABIS PLANTS FOUND AT PORT AUGUSTA
Police have discovered five cannabis plants at a Port Augusta home.
As well as a bag of dried cannabis, the plants were located just before 11am on Thursday on Glynde Street, after a tip off to police.
A 60-year-old local man was reported for cultivating cannabis and possession of cannabis.
He has been summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
TEENAGERS SERIOUSLY INJURED IN CRASH
Two teenagers have been taken to hospital with serious leg injuries after their ute crashed down an embankment.
The Holden ute left Brown Hill Creek Road just after midnight on Saturday.
Two 17-year-old boys, from Glandore and Colonel Light Gardens respectively, were taken to Flinders Medical Centre for treatment.
Their injuries are non-life threatening.

There has been a difficult rescue mission to free two teenage boys who became trapped in a ute, when the driver lost control and crashed down an embankment at Brown Hill Creek.

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 12
CANNABIS CROP FOUND AFTER HOUSE FIRE
A house fire has led to the discovery of a cannabis crop at Hillcrest in Adelaide’s northeast.
The vacant house was set alight, due to a potential electrical fault associated with the home’s hydroponic cannabis crop, about 5am on Friday morning.
The fire caused about $350,000 worth of damage.
Fire Cause Investigators will be attending the scene during the day on Friday.
Fosters Road is closed between North East Road and Yelland Street, with detours in place.
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 11
POLICE SEEK MISSING YOUNGSTERS
In two separate call-outs for missing people, SA Police were last night seeking help to find two young people, the youngest aged just 10.
Police say the girl, Natalia Spokes-Brown, was last seen at Peachey Rd, Edinburgh North about 11.30am on Tuesday.
She is described as being 151cm tall with dark brown hair and brown eyes.
She was last seen wearing a navy blue and white t-shirt, navy blue pants and white sandals and was carrying a grey and pink backpack.
Police are also seeking help from the public to find missing teenager, I’isha Mattin.
The 16-year-old was last seen at Para Hills West about 7am on Saturday, February 6.
She is described as being 160cm tall with a fair complexion, brown eyes and long straight brown hair.
It’s thought she may be heading to Brahma Lodge.
Anyone with information on either of the missing young people is asked to call 131 444.
POLICE INVESTIGATE SUSPICIOUS FIRE AT MARDEN
A unit fire sparked by an outdoor couch that was set alight has been deemed suspicious and police are investigating.
The blaze broke out on River Street at Marden around 2am Thursday, with firefighters containing the blaze within five minutes.
The fire started outside the kitchen window,.
The damage to the property is estimated $60,000 but no one was home at the time of the blaze.

CRANE ROLLS AT HEATHFIELD HIGH
Students and workers were lucky to escape serious injury after a crane rolled at Heathfield High School this morning.
Just after 8.30 this morning police and fire crews were alerted to a construction site at the school after a crane rolled on to the vehicle’s roof. The crane driver, a man in his 60s, has minor injuries, and was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for precaution.
MAN ASSAULTED IN ONLINE MEET AT PROSPECT
A man is in hospital after he was assaulted with a hammer in what was meant to be an online purchase arrangement at Prospect overnight.

A second driver in a matter of days has been caught driving with fake number plates in the northern suburbs.
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 10
TEEN AND CHILD RESCUED AFTER EARLY MORNING DIP
A teenager and a child who went for an early-morning swim in the River Torrens have been rescued with the assistance of police.
The pair reportedly came in to trouble after they swam out to a BBQ Buoy boat around 5am Wednesday, raising the alarm after they became too cold to swim back to shore.
Andrea Escalante, BBQ Buoys owner, said she and her husband helped the pair by taking their dingy out. Police assisted the rescue.
“We just helped secure them on to shore,” Ms Escalante said. “We’re very happy the kids are OK.”
BBQ Buoys are inflatable boats operating on the River Torrens. They are self-driven, doughnut-shaped boats that come with a BBQ and drinks for hire.
Ms Escalante said they’re assessing if the boat the boys swam to was damaged
The Adelaide City Council has come under fire in recent weeks for not cleaning the River Torrens frequently enough, after heavy rain washed litter and debris down the system.
FAKE PLATES ‘NOT STOLEN OK’
A disqualified driver with altered plates stating to be “not stolen OK” will face court.
TOXIC SMOKE FIRE AT CHELTENHAM
A firefighter is being treated by paramedics after inhaling toxic fumes in a battery fire at Cheltenham this morning.
Just after 11.30am Wednesday a battery fire at a Port Road mechanic prompted multiple alarms to sound. Firefighters with Hazmat attended the scene and evacuated the two-storey building.
A Metropolitan Fire Service staff member is being treated for toxic smoke inhalation while attending to the incident and is suffering minor breathing problems.
Crews will ventilate the building and staff will be allowed back in when given the all clear. The fire was contained and caused minor damage.
UNLICENSED AND UNREGISTERED TEEN HOON CHARGED
A teenager has been charged after he was caught hooning his motorbike while it was unregistered and he had no license.
The 17-year-old was caught by the Polair helicopter just before 3pm on Monday, hooning his dirt bike through Halsey Road at Elizabeth East.
He was tracked by Polair through surrounding streets at speeds estimated to be about 120km/h.
The teen was followed to a service station on Main North Road at Hillbank where he was arrested.
He was charged with riding at speed/manner dangerous, riding unlicensed, unregistered and uninsured.
The teenager’s motorbike was impounded for 28 days and he has bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Youth Court on March 19.
KILO OF CANNABIS FOUND IN CAR
A Coober Peedy man has been arrested after police discovered over a kilo of cannabis in his car.
The 43-year-old was driving along the Stuart Highway south of the township, before police stopped his Ford sedan and searched the vehicle.
The discovery of the drugs, found in the boot, led to the man being charged with trafficking a commercial quantity of controlled drug.
He has been refused bail and will appear in the Port Augusta Magistrates Court via video link on Wednesday.
TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 9
MORNING WALKER BASHED AT LARGS JETTY
A man on his morning walk along the beach was bashed at Largs Bay jetty on Tuesday.
The man walked under the Semaphore jetty at about 5.30am when two men standing above starting yelling abuse at him.
The suspects then followed the man along the beach and assaulted him about 300m from the Largs jetty, leaving him with facial injuries.
He took himself to hospital for treatment.
Police are investigating the matter.
The first man is described as of Aboriginal or Pacific Islander appearance, aged in his late teens to early 20s, about 175cm tall and stocky. He was wearing a grey beanie and light grey T-shirt with an Aboriginal flag on it.
The second suspect is described as of Aboriginal appearance, aged about 16, 170cm tall and skinny with short dark hair. He was wearing glasses and a T-shirt.
The victim believes the assault may have been filmed on the suspects’ mobile phones.

Eight “irresponsible” drivers have been caught dropping their kids off to school with drugs or alcohol in their system in a single day.
CAR FLIPS IN GLENSIDE CRASH
An elderly man is lucky to be alive after he crashed his car and flipped it on to its side at Glenside this morning.
The crash happened just after 11am, when an 80-year-old driver crashed into a parked car on L’Estrange Street, causing the car to flip.
The man was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital in a stable condition.
MOTORCYCLIST DIES AFTER CRASH
A motorcyclist has died in hospital following a crash at Waterloo Corner last month.
The man, 25, lost control of the bike and crashed into a speed sign on Heaslip Road, just before 6pm on January 28.
The Paralowie man was rushed to the hospital in a serious condition and died from his injuries yesterday, on Monday, February 8.
He is the ninth life lost, and fourth motorcycle rider to die on our roads this year compared to a total nine lives lost this time last year.
BUS DRIVER ASSAULTED AT NOARLUNGA LAST MONTH
An hour after appealing to the public to help find a man who spat at a bus driver before assaulting him at Noarlunga last month, the suspect has been identified.
A man was refused entry on a bus about 7.30am, Friday, January 22.
The man then allegedly spat at the driver twice, before hitting him in the face, and throwing an object at the driver’s window, cracking it. The suspect fled before police arrived.
He was described as being aged in his 20s, 183cm tall, a slim building with short light brown hair. He was identified just after 11am Tuesday.
POLICE INVESTIGATE BRAWL WITH BASEBALL BATS
A man has been arrested following a fight with a group of people at Elizabeth Downs.
Police were alerted to the fight between several people on Loftis Road at about 10pm on Monday night.
Some reported to police that baseball bats were involved in the melee.
The Polair police helicopter flew over the fight, which caused the group to disperse.
A 25-year-old Elizabeth Downs man was tracked to Turnbull Road where he was arrested and charged with affray.
He has been bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on March 17.
Another man who was involved in the fight appeared at the Lyell McEwin Hospital, but was uncooperative.

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 8
BRIGHTON ROBBER ARRESTED
A man has been arrested after he robbed a Brighton service station.
The man entered the service station on Brighton Road before 6.45pm on Monday night, threatened staff before leaving with a small amount of cash.
Police caught up with the man at about 7.15pm near a licensed venue on The Esplanade at Brighton.
The 19-year-old Brighton man was arrested and is expected to be charged with aggravated robbery.
SUSPECTS IN BROOKLYN PARK BREAK IN
The images of two men wanted over a Brooklyn Park robbery have been released.
The suspects broke into a Pine Street home on February 2 and left with jewellery and clothing.
A security camera at the house captured them leaving at about 10.10am.

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 7
SUSPECT IMAGE RELEASED OVER SEMAPHORE BEACH ASSAULT
Police have released an image of a man who allegedly assaulted two people at Semaphore Beach in December.
Two people were walking their dogs along the bach about 7.20pm on Tuesday December 15, when their dogs were attacked by at least two other unrestrained dogs.
An argument ensured with the victims, and owner of the off-leash dogs.
A second man, pictured, allegedly punched one victim in the face, and kicked the other in the head. Both suffered minor injuries including soreness and swelling.
The assault suspect fled through the dunes.
He is pictured as a young man in black shorts with no shirt on, with short dark brown hair with facial hair.
Despite extensive inquiries police have not identified the suspect, and asks anyone who recognises the picture man to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
MAN CUT DEFENDING HIMSELF AGAINST MALE PARTNER
A man has suffered defensive wounds to his hands while allegedly being attacked by his knife-wielding partner.
Police have charged the 29-year-old man with attempted murder after patrols were called to an Old Reynella house on Sunday morning.
DRUG DRIVER REPORTED IN CROYDON CRASH
A woman involved in a five car pileup has tested positive to drugs after a crash at Croydon on Saturday.
The five car crash happened on the North-South motorway around 3pm, after a Commodore collided with the rear of a Hyundai Sedan.
There were no injuries in the crash but four of the cars needed to be towed from the scene, and the busy motorway was closed with diversions in place for nearly two hours.
A 29-year-old Kilburn woman, who was driving the Commodore, tested positive to cannabis. The car she was driving was unregistered and uninsured.
The woman was reported for drug driving and other offences. She will appear in court at a later date.
MOTORCYCLIST CRASHES, THREE TIMES OVER THE LIMIT
A motorcyclist more than three times over the legal alcohol limit crashed at Roxby Downs overnight.
The rider crashed at the corner of Pine Crescent and Burgoyne Street about 10pm Saturday.
The 35-year-old man from Roxby Downs was alcohol tested and returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.153, more than three times the legal limit of 0.05.
He was reported for drink driving, aggravated driving without due care and breaching conditions of a provisional license.
He was issued a 12 month loss of licence and had his bike impounded for 28 days.
The man will appear in court at a later date.
HOON DRIVER CAUGHT AT PORT PIRIE
A teenager has had his wheels clamped after he was seen hooning at Port Pirie overnight.
Police saw a blue Ford utility driving south on Main Road about 12.30am Sunday.
When it stopped at the intersection of Three chain Road, the driver accelerated rapidly, revving the engine and squealing and spinning tyres while driving through a nearby roundabout.
A patrol stopped the ute and reported the 19-year-old driver for misuse of a motor vehicle.
His car was clamped for 28 days, and he will appear in court at a later date.
