LIFE-THREATENING INJURIES IN RESTAURANT STABBING

A man is fighting for their life after being stabbed in a violent clash between a group of people at Torrenville.

Crime scene investigators were called to Henley Beach Road near Northcote Street where the incident occurred around 5.20pm Saturday.

Police said officers found the 32-year-old man with multiple stab wounds to his torso and arms. The suspects left in a car before police arrived.

A police spokeswoman said no arrests had been made and witnesses were being interviewed at the scene.

The victim has been taken to the Royal Adelaid Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

SERIOUS CRASH AT MOUNT COMPASS

Police and emergency services are at the scene of a serious head-on crash at Mount Compass.

The crash happened on Victor Harbour Road around 5.20pm Saturday.

Victor Harbor Road between Sand Mine Road and Arthur Roads are closed while police investigate the crash and are asking motorists to avoid the area.

WITNESSES SOUGHT OVER CBD SEXUAL ASSAULT

Police want to speak to two women they believe can assist their investigation into a CBD sexual assault last month and have released CCTV images of the potential witnesses.

A teenage boy was arrested in relation to the incident in the early hours of Sunday October 4 in the CBD.

The two women, pictured, were in Rundle Mall around 5.20am that morning. It’s believed they were approached by the 16-year-old boy and conversed with him briefly. Police are hoping to speak with the two women in relation to the incident and ask them to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

TWO COVID BREACHES RECORDED THIS WEEK

Two people have been arrested for breaching border restrictions in South Australia this week, including a man who crossed the border on foot.

On Wednesday police at the Yamba checkpoint were advised a man had crossed the border on foot. He was later located and arrested for breaching the Emergency Management Directions.

The man returned a negative COVID-19 test and was refused bail. He will appear in court in December. On Tuesday another man was arrested after police found he entered SA from Victoria without an exemption or essential traveller status in October. He had evaded police since that date. He was located on Tuesday, and has since appeared in court where he was sentenced to a suspended sentence on a 12 month good behaviour bond, and fined $650.

DRINK DRIVER LOSES LICENCE AT ROXBY DOWNS

A driver has lost her licence after police say she blew nearly three times over the legal blood alcohol limit at Roxby Downs overnight.

A woman driving a Subaru wagon on Pioneer Street around 10.30pm Friday was pulled over for a random breath test.

She allegedly returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.141, nearly three times over the legal blood alcohol limit of 0.05.

The 25-year-old was issued a six month instant loss of licence, and she had her car impounded for 28 days. She will appear in court at a later date.

TWO ARRESTED FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING AFTER POLICE SEARCH

A man and a woman have been charged with drug trafficking after the man fled in a vehicle while his companion was being questioned by police during a traffic stop at Burton overnight. READ MORE HERE.

CCTV OF ELECTRONIC TABLET THIEVES

Police have released CCTV images of the suspects they say stole 25 Lenovo tablets and other electronic equipment from a Glenelg North hotel.

The hotel on Anzac Highway reported the tablets had been stolen from the eastern area of the hotel just after 3am Tuesday.

Two men dressed in hooded jumpers and baseball caps were seen on CCTV footage taking the tablets, which were stored in a black case.

The suspects used a sack truck to move the stolen goods from the hotel and then headed west.

It is unknown if they had a vehicle nearby.

Anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area or recognises the suspects pictured is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

METAL THEFT INGLE FARM

A man has been arrested for allegedly stripping copper wiring from the roof of an Ingle Farm home in daylight yesterday.

Residents reporting a man on the roof of a home acting suspiciously on Marrett Drive around 6.15pm Thursday.

Police found a man inside the property he was reported standing on top of, with an amount of copper wiring that appeared to have been removed from the inside of the house.

He also had metal cutters, an axe, bolt cutters and gloves.

The 46-year-old Ingle Farm man was arrested and charged with being unlawfully on premises, going equipped, and theft.

He did not apply for bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Friday.

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 12

FACTORY FIRE AT KILBURN

Toxic smoke has spewed across Adelaide’s northern suburbs from a fire that has caused an estimated $1m damage to a plastics recycling factory at Kilburn.

More than 70 MFS firefighters with 18 appliances have contained the fire which erupted in the Recycling Plastics Australia factory on Blackburn St, Kilburn.

TAILEM BEND CANNABIS CROP DISCOVERED

Police have discovered a cannabis crop near Tailem Bend, thanks to an anonymous tip-off.

At about 11am on Tuesday, police allegedly raided the property after receiving information via Crime Stoppers.

More than three kilos of dried cannabis were allegedly found, along with 10 plants growing hydroponically.

A 50-year-old man was reported for cultivating and possessing cannabis.

He will appear in the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court at a later date.

FIVE YOUNG BOYS ARRESTED

Police arrested and charged five young teenagers, all under the age of 14 on Wednesday night.

Two boys allegedly confronted and broke into an 81-year-old woman’s house at Whyalla Sturt around 11.45pm.

The woman was not injured.

Later the same night, about 1.15am Thursday morning, five youths were arrested after police saw a stolen Toyota Corolla mount a kerb in Port Augusta.

A 10-year-old Whyalla Stuart boy, 12-year-old Whyalla Stuart boy, two 13-year-old Whyalla Stuart boys, and a 12-year-old Whyalla Norrie boy were all charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle.

The 12-year-old was refused bail and will appear in court on Thursday afternoon.

The other boys were bailed and will appear in Court at a later date.

SUSPICIOUS HAY BALE FIRE AT BLAKEVIEW

Around 30 hay bales set alight in a suspected arson attack drew an emergency response from police and fire crews on Thursday morning.

At about 2am, emergency services were called to a paddock near the intersection of Bentley and Smith roads, after reports the large haystack had been set alight.

The fire is one of several similar blazes ignited over the past few weeks.

Accelerant is believed to have been used.

Police are investigating and are calling for those with information to come forward to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

WAIKERIE VANDAL ATTACK

A man was arrested at Waikerie on Tuesday night after allegedly damaging the local library and police station.

At about 5.15pm on Tuesday, the 36-year-old Elizabeth East man allegedly smashed windows of both buildings.

The alleged vandal was found by police with the help of a passer-by and sustained minor cuts to his leg during the incident.

The suspect was taken to the Waikerie Hospital for treatment.

He did not apply for bail and appeared in the Berri Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

HUGE MURRAY MALLEE TOBACCO HAUL

An anonymous tip-off has led police to a huge tobacco haul in the Murray Mallee this week.

A Tailem Bend house was searched on Sunday November 8 around 5.30pm.

Police say they found 12kg of loose tobacco and 88 cartons, which is around 880, homemade cigarettes.

The items were seized, and a 59-year-old woman from the address was issued a $1060 fine.

A short time later police searched a Murray Bridge home and say they located 3kg of tobacco hidden inside a freezer, and 77 cartons of cigarettes in a shed.

A 60-year-old woman from the property was issued a $560 fine.

Anyone with information on the possession, sale or distribution of tobacco is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

It follows a recent report that smuggled tobacco products are being sold illegally on the streets of Adelaide, who are undercutting lawful cigarette retailers.

TWO DRINK-DRIVERS CAUGHT ON SAME STREET

Two drink-drivers, both unlicensed, were stopped by police in Port Augusta early Wednesday morning.

At around 12.45am, police spotted a Mazda sedan driving on Elsie Street and pulled it over to conduct a random breath test.

The 37-year-old Port Augusta woman returned a reading of 0.277, close to six times the legal limit.

She was reported for driving unlicensed and drink-driving, losing her licence for 12 months and had her car impounded for 28 days. She will appear in Port Augusta Magistrates Court at a later date.

Later that night at about 2.10am, police attempted to pull over a man riding a GMX motorbike before he allegedly refused and sped away.

The man was found a short time later on Sharam Street and was breath tested.

He was found to be unlicensed and returned a reading of 0.159.

The rider was arrested and charged with failing to stop, driving unlicensed, unregistered, uninsured and drink-driving.

He was issued a 12-month loss of licence and the motor bike was impounded for 28 days. The man will appear in the Port Augusta Magistrates Court at a later date.

DRINK AND DRUG DRIVERS CAUGHT ON SCHOOL RUN

A man was caught drink-driving with children in the car on Monday afternoon.

The Golden Grove resident returned a reading of 0.095, more than twice the legal limit during SAPOL’s Operation Stop Drink/Drug Drive – Schools.

During 8am to 9am and 2.45pm to 3.45pm on Monday, police conducted nearly 1500 breath tests and 84 drug screening tests.

Four positive drug test results were recorded – two for methylamphetamine and THC respectively.

None of the drug drivers had children in the car.

One of the drivers lost their licence and another had their vehicle impounded.

DRINK-DRIVER ON WAY TO CHILD CARE BLOWS FIVE TIMES OVER

A woman recorded a blood alcohol reading of more than five times the legal limit at Norwood on Tuesday evening.

The 41-year-old from Gilberton was on her way to childcare before being stopped by police after noticing her licence was suspended.

The woman was then breath tested and returned a reading of 0.227.

She was arrested and charged with drink driving and driving while disqualified and will appear in court at a later date.

Her vehicle was impounded for 28 days and other plans were made to safely collect her children from child care.

DOUBLE TROUBLE FOR L-PLATE MOTORBIKE RIDERS

Two motorcyclists on their learner’s permits have been fined overnight, hours after receiving their licenses.

Police pulled the pair over travelling on North East Road at Modbury just after 2pm on Tuesday.

A 22-year-old Pooraka man and a 29-year-old Ingle Farm man had received their permits at 12.22pm yesterday afternoon after completing the road safety course.

Both riders were fined $442 each and lost two demerit points for not displaying their L-plates, and one was cautioned for not carrying his licence.

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 10

SERIOUS CRASH IN CITY

A cyclist has been taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition after they collided with a car in the city.

At about 2.40pm on Tuesday, police and ambulance were called to Botanic Road and Hackney road.

Police are asking motorists to avoid the area as traffic delays are ongoing.

TRUCK CATCHES FIRE AT WINGFIELD

A truck carrying cardboard has caught alight while travelling down Grand Junction Road towards Dunstan Road at Wingfield.

It took 18 MFS firefighters half an hour to extinguish the blaze, but not before $100,000 of damage was caused.

The truck drivers noticed the smouldering and realised it was too late to dump the load, evacuating the vehicle.

Traffic delays were experienced for over an hour and is slowly opening back up.

DELAYS ON THE FREEWAY DOWNTRACK

Traffic is flowing again on the South Eastern Freeway after a truck broke down on the downtrack at Bridgewater on Tuesday morning.

City-bound Hills motorists experienced heavy delays as traffic was reduced to one lane with restricted speeds.

There were reports the queue of traffic was backed up for more than 10km between Bridgewater and Mt Barker, with speeds no more than 11km/h.

Police warn there may be residual delays.

DRUNK AND DISORDERLY MOTORCYCLIST ARRESTED

A man was arrested early Tuesday morning for drink driving and behaving in a disorderly manner.

Shortly after 12.30am, a man was spotted by police riding a motorbike into a service station at Murray Bridge.

He was breath-tested, and returned a blood alcohol reading of nearly three times the legal limit at 0.145.

The 31-year-old Murray Bridge local was arrested and charged with drink-driving and driving with a suspended licence.

His licence was suspended for six months and he also had his bike impounded for 28 days.

The man was bailed and will appear in the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court on 21 December.

SUSPICIOUS FIRE AT SMITHFIELD PLAINS

Police are investigating a fire at Smithfield Plains that caused minor damage to a house and car.

After receiving reports that Molotov cocktails were thrown at the property on Crittenden Road, police and MFS crews responded and were able to extinguish the blaze.

The incident is not believed to be random.

IPADS STOLEN IN GLENELG NORTH BREAK-IN

At around 3.14am Tuesday morning, two men dressed in hooded jumpers broke into a Glenelg North hotel and stole 20 iPads, police say.

The men, who also donned baseball caps, were seen leaving the hotel on CCTV carrying the tablets on a sack truck.

It is unknown whether the men had a car nearby.

Police are investigating the theft. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

MAN ARRESTED AFTER SHORT PURSUIT

A man who cut off his home detention bracelet has been arrested after crashing his car while trying to evade police at West Richmond this morning.

A Holden A Commodore was seen travelling on Desmond Ave at Marleston around 2am Tuesday in a poor condition. Police followed the car onto Marion Road and on Britton Street. Emergency lighting was activated to signal the driver to stop but the driver accelerated away from police.

The Commodore turned onto Passmore Street at West Richmond, drove onto the wrong side of the road and crashed into a parked Ford utility.

The driver ran from his vehicle on Passmore Street, but was arrested following a brief on-foot pursuit. A 40-year-old Port Adelaide man was charged with engaging in a police pursuit, failing to stop, resisting arrest and failing to give particulars after a collision.

The man had cut off his home detention bracelet on November 2, meaning he was also charged with breaching of bail. He was refused bail to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court later today.

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 9

SPEEDING DRINK-DRIVER CAUGHT NEAR WOOMERA

Police have caught speeding drink-diver who blew nearly five times the legal limit on Sunday morning.

The 36-year-old Roxby Downs man was caught travelling at 128km/h in a 110km/h zone on the Olympic Dam Highway, 25km north of Woomera.

The man was reported for speeding and drink driving, returning a blood alcohol reading of 0.237.

Police issued him with an instant loss of license for 12 months and impounded his vehicle for 28 days.

He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

THREE ARRESTED, HIDING ON ROOFS AT ROSEWATER

Police say two men and a woman were found hiding on roofs at Rosewater after they were allegedly seen driving a stolen car at Semaphore this morning.

Police say the stolen Toyota Kluger was driving on Bartley Terrace at Semaphore around 3.25am Monday. The car was found abandoned in Canning Street at Rosewater a short time later. Police called in a helicopter and two dogs to help with the search. The three people were located on roofs of houses in Russell, Newcastle and Mable Streets.

All three people were arrested and are expected to be charged later this morning.

SUSPICIOUS CAR FIRE AT CHANDLERS HILL

Police are investigating a suspicious fire involving at stolen car at Chandlers Hill overnight.

Crews were called to the car fire at a paddock on Clarendon Road around 11.35pm Sunday.

The blaze was extinguished but the Nissan Ute was extensively damaged.

Police are treating the fire as suspicious, as the car had been stolen from Reynella earlier that evening. Anyone with information that could help the investigation should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 8

RED LIGHT CRASH CAUGHT ON DASHCAM

A drink-driver went through a red light and crashed into another car at an Adelaide CBD intersection on Saturday afternoon, in an incident caught on dashcam.

The crash happened at the intersection of North Terrace and Frome Road just after 5.30pm on Saturday.

Footage shows a Mercedes sedan travelling east on North Terrace through a red light and crashing into the side of a Mitsubishi SUV that was going south on Frome Road.

Both cars were towed from the scene.

The Mercedes driver, a 23-year-old man from the Mid North, was reported for drink-driving after he returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.091, police said.

He lost his licence instantly for six months.

The man was also charged with aggravated driving without due care and entering an intersection on a red light.

SUSPICIOUS FIRE DESTROYS UNIT

A fire that police believe was deliberately lit has destroyed a unit at Elizabeth East.

The fire broke out at the unit on Yorktown Road just before 3pm on Sunday.

Residents of nearby units were evacuated while Metropolitan Fire Service crews battled the blaze.

No one was home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but both police and MFS believe it was deliberately lit.

A motorbike rider on his P-plates has been reported after he was caught travelling at almost double the speed limit in the Adelaide Hills.

Just after noon on Sunday, a speed camera operator nabbed the motorcyclist travelling at 158km/h in an 80km/h zone on Greenhill Rd, Balhannah.

Hills police patrols were alerted and the rider, who had a pillion passenger, was intercepted on Onkaparinga Valley Road, Oakbank. Checks revealed that the bike was unregistered and uninsured.

The driver, a 31-year-old man from Fairview Park, was reported for manner dangerous, riding an unregistered and uninsured bike and for failing to carry his probationary licence. His bike was impounded for 28 days.

Superintendent Gus Sickerdick, officer-in-charge of the Hills Fleurieu Local Service Area, described the rider’s actions as “extremely dangerous and disappointing”.

TEEN ‘ROCK THROWERS’ CAUGHT

Three teenage boys have been arrested for allegedly throwing rocks at a moving ute at Lonsdale.

Police say the ute was hit by a number of rocks while travelling north on Dyson Road about 11.30am on Saturday.

One of the rocks shattered the vehicle’s windscreen – but the 44-year-old driver escaped unharmed.

Police quickly found the three youths and charged them with trespassing in a rail corridor, throw missile and property damage.

The alleged offenders were a 15-year-old from Hackham, a 14-year-old from Christie Downs and a 14-year-old from Totness. They were all issued transit barring orders and will appear in court at a later date.
