Former classmates have revealed further details of the childhood of a man accused of the shocking murder of well-known SA pediatrician Dr Michael Yung.

Kerem Aydin, 22, and his co-accused Jacinta Davila, 27, were arrested at the Torrensville shopping centre on Tuesday night.

The couple were charged with one count each of murder, serious criminal trespass and committing theft using force, with SA Police and prosecutors to allege Dr Yung’s house was chosen at random.

Details now have emerged of Mr Aydin’s time as a child living in Tailem Bend, 100km south east of Adelaide, and in Murray Bridge.

He played football at the local club and participated in karate lessons in the local town hall.

Aydin attended the Tailem Bend Primary School before going to the Islamic College of South Australia as a secondary student.

A childhood friend said she had fond memories of the kid she “hung out with quite a bit” and was in shock to learn of the arrest.

“He wasn’t a bad kid, was a little gentleman with me,” she said.

“Footy he loved … karate was a big one, he did that from a young age.”
