Teen arrested after using axe to break into a Drakes supermarket

A teenager used an axe to break the window of a supermarket in Adelaide’s northwestern suburbs but left with less than what they bargained for.

A teenager has allegedly used an axe to break into a supermarket but he and a friend were forced to leave with nothing, 7NEWS has reported.

The 15-year-old reportedly made a beeline for the cigarette kiosk at Drakes in North Haven but was unable to get it open.

Footage obtained by 7NEWS shows a figure using an axe to break through the window and then climb through the hole.

He then hops over the counter and tries to get into the cigarette kiosk.

Realising the kiosk is locked, the teenager flees the scene along with his accomplice.

JP Drake told the network it was “not a good show”.

“It’s all grated, so you cannot take a thing,” he said.

The teenager has been arrested at a Northhaven home and charged with serious criminal trespass. He is now on police bail.

His accomplice has not yet been detained.

Shoppers told 7NEWS the punishment for their actions was insufficient.
