The state’s biggest courtroom overflowed – with both people and emotion – as a group of high-profile alleged homicides were heard one after the other.

Eight people facing charges arising from four separate alleged murders have faced court, one after the other, in a standing-room-only and at-times emotional hearing.

On Monday, the Supreme Court held its weekly arraignment list in courtroom eight of the Sir Samuel Way Building – the largest courtroom in the state.

Despite its size, the public gallery quickly overflowed with the families of both alleged victims and defendants, as well as SA Police officers, prosecutors and defence counsel.

The accused who faced court on Monday were:

SHEREE May Glastonbury, 49, who has pleaded not guilty to repeatedly attacking and eventually murdering her defacto, Geoffrey McLean.

MARK John Murphy, 51, who has pleaded not guilty to repeated assaults upon, and the eventual murder of, Mr McLean.

PETER James Murphy, 51, and Lynette Sexton, 50, who have pleaded not guilty to aiding and abetting in Mr McLean’s alleged murder.

KEREM Aydin, 23, who has pleaded not guilty to murdering Dr Michael Yung and trespassing in his home, and Jacinta Davila, 28, who has pleaded not guilty to assisting Mr Aydin.

SHAUN Michaels Dunk, 31, who has yet to plead to allegations he murdered Julie Seed and attempted to murder Sue Scardigno at a real estate agency.

SOBHAN Shamsoddini, 27, who has pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Dakota “Koda” Woodford but pleaded not guilty to his murder.

On Monday, counsel for Ms Glastonbury told the court their client and her alleged co-accused were considering applying to have separate trials.

The court also heard Peter Murphy and Ms Sexton are accused of “failing to report the location of the remains of Mr McLean to police”.

Prosecutors further allege they stored Mr McLean’s remains at their home address and hired a Budget removal truck to transport them.

They are further alleged to have “loaded a wheelie bin containing Mr McLean’s remains” into the truck and “conveyed” Mark Murphy to the empty Salisbury lot where it was found.

Finally, they are further alleged to have cleaned the rental truck after it was used.

Chief Justice Chris Kourakis remanded the quartet in custody until March for a hearing over the question of potentially separate trials.

THE ALLEGED MURDER OF MICHAEL YUNG

On Monday, Mr Aydin repeated his denials in court, emphasising the word “not” as he pleaded “not guilty” to his charges.

Michael Woods, for Ms Davila, asked his client’s case be adjourned and she not be arraigned as scheduled.

He said that, since having received legal aid funding for the case, he had read “most of the file”.

“There are a couple of quite important matters I’ve raised with the prosecution which will affect my client’s plea and, perhaps, a resolution of the matter,” he said.

Chief Justice Kourakis remanded Ms Davila on continuing bail until February, and Mr Aydin in custody until March.

Dr Yung’s mother and her supporters left the court in tears following the hearing.

On Monday, prosecutors asked the court to order a psychiatric report to assess Mr Dunk’s mental health “in anticipation of a trial”.

Chief Justic Kourakis did so, and remanded Mr Dunk in custody until March.

THE ALLEGED MURDER OF DAKOTA WOODFORD

On Monday, counsel for Sobhan Shamsoddini asked their client’s arraignment be postponed, and he was remanded in custody to face court again in March.

Shamsoddini, 27, was charged with one count of murder after police were called to Henry St, Paralowie following reports a man had been stabbed just before 7am on February 27.

Dakota ‘Koda’ Woodford was rushed from the home, which belonged to his grandparents, to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with critical injuries but died a short time later.
