SATURDAY, JULY 31
FATAL CRASH NEAR PORT AUGUSTA
A man has died after his car rolled near Port Augusta on Saturday.
About 4.15pm, police and paramedics were called to Shack Road at Commissariat Point following reports of the crash.
They treated the injured man, who was the only occupant of a Holden Commodore sedan.
But the 33-year-old local man died at the scene.
Major Crash investigators are examining the crash.
GUN AMMO, STOLEN ITEMS FOUND
Firearm ammunition and drug paraphernalia were found along with allegedly stolen items when a man stopped to change the tyre on a trailer at Gawler South.
Police located the car on Twentysecond St at about 2pm on Friday, following reports from the public of the a man acting suspiciously.
Numerous industrial items were located on the trailer, which appeared to have been stolen.
A search of the Ford Territory located firearm ammunition and drug paraphernalia.
A 26-year-old man from Parafield Gardens was arrested and charged with driving while disqualified, possessing ammunition, failing to comply with his bail agreement, unlawful possession and possessing equipment to use with a controlled substance.
He was refused bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Monday, August 2.
STOLEN WHEELCHAIR RETURNED
An electric wheelchair has been returned to its owner after it was stolen from the city’s inner west this week.
Between 10pm Monday and 6am Tuesday, the wheelchair, which has special features to assist the victim’s mobility, was taken from the rear yard of a home at Richmond.
About 12.30am Saturday, a member of the public advised police she had found a wheelchair abandoned in front of her Cowandilla home.
The device was not damaged but its battery had been drained. It has been returned to its owner.
As part of their investigations, police earlier this week released CCTV of two suspects believed to be involved in the theft.

BORDER BREACH IN FAR WEST
A New South Wales man has been arrested after he breached border restrictions by entering South Australia.
About 11.45am Friday, police found a man travelling through Cook, on the Far West Coast, after they received information he had unlawfully arrived in the state.
“Police believe he was attempting to travel through to Western Australia but his vehicle had broken down,” SA Police said.
They spoke with the man and discovered he entered from Victoria but avoided the border checkpoint.
He had also been in New South Wales in the last two weeks, which had been declared on his unsuccessful Cross Border Application.
The man, a 25-year-old from Robertstown in New South Wales, was arrested for breaching the Emergency Management Act.
He will be refused bail to appear in the Ceduna Magistrates Court on Monday.
SPEEDING DRIVER IN MID-NORTH
A woman has been caught travelling 60km/h above the speed limit in the state’s Mid-North.
Just before 5.30am, Port Pirie police were detecting the speed of cars on Augusta Highway near Crystal Brook when they recorded a Mercedes station wagon travelling 170km/h in a 110km/h zone.
The driver, a 25-year-old woman from Elizabeth Grove, was reported for speeding and dangerous driving as well as other driving offences.
Her car has been impounded for 28 days and she will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
FRIDAY, JULY 30
TRUCKIE’S MIRACULOUS ESCAPE
A truck driver walked away without a scratch after rolling his truck at Yankalilla.
The quarry truck was driving down a steep, winding section of Main South Rd when he veered off the road and flipped over a guardrail on Friday afternoon.
He was not injured and the scene was cleared by emergency services.
PEDESTRIAN KILLED AT PORT ADELAIDE
A pedestrian has died and a driver has been charged following a crash at Port Adelaide on Wednesday.
Just after 11.20am, police and emergency services were called to St Vincent Street after reports of a crash involving a car and a pedestrian.
The woman, a 64-year-old from North Haven, was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital
but died overnight on Thursday.
The driver, a 59-year-old man from Greenwith, was arrested and charged with causing death by dangerous driving. He was granted police bail to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on August 26.
Major Crash officers attended the scene, and St Vincent Street was closed to eastbound traffic.
The woman was the 61st person to lose their life on SA roads this year, compared to 56 at the same time last year.
TEEN ARRESTED IN STOLEN CAR
A teenager has been arrested after a stolen car was abandoned after a police chase in the southern suburbs on Friday morning.
Just before 1am, police spotted a Mitsubishi Mirage travelling along Whitton Road at Christies Beach.
The car had been reported stolen during a break-in at Goodwood on Thursday.
Officers tried to stop the car but the driver continued and police pursued for a short distance along Beach Road.
The occupants abandoned the car but the driver was caught a short distance away and arrested. Police did not find the four passengers.
The driver, a 14-year-old from Oaklands Park, has been charged with offences including aggravated serious criminal trespass, illegal use of a motor vehicle, engaging in a police pursuit and other traffic offences.
He was also wanted in relation to breaching bail and other theft matters, and was refused police bail to appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on Friday.
THURSDAY, JULY 29
TWO ARRESTED AFTER KNIFEPOINT ROBBERY
Two people have been arrested after allegedly robbing a man at knifepoint in the CBD.
A victim was allegedly approached by a man and woman on Franklin St about 1am Thursday, who threatened him with a knife and stole his wallet.
Police launched an investigation and arrested a man, 39, from Nuriootpa, and a woman, 41, from Port Adelaide, and charged them both with aggravated robbery.
The woman was further charged with carrying an offensive weapon, and for breaching her bail conditions. They were refused bail to face court on Friday.
TRUCK STOLEN FROM WINGFIELD
Police are hunting the suspects responsible for stealing a truck from a business at Wingfield.
Two men entered the Bowyer Rd business about 1.10am Tuesday, and stole a white 2016 caterpillar prime mover, with registration SB55LM.
The suspects were last seen driving the truck north, on Bowyer Rd, towards Cormack Rd.
The suspects are described as wearing high vis jackers, and tanned coloured pants.
One of the men was wearing a dark coloured baseball cap, and a light coloured face mask.
The other man was swearing a dark face covering.

ARREST AFTER CAR STOLEN
A man has been arrested after allegedly taking off in a car while the owner paid for fuel at Mt Gambier.
A man pulled up to a service station on O’Leary Rd about 6.50am Thursday, and filled up with petrol.
He left the keys in the black 2009 Holden station wagon and went to pay instore.
A white Holden station wagon bearing Victorian registration plates pulled into the service station about the same time.
A man from the white Holden got into the victim’s black Holden and drove off.
The white Holden followed, and both vehicles were last seen travelling east on Jubilee Highway.
The suspect was arrested on Thursday afternoon following investigations and will be charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle.
The Victorian man, 35, will face court on Friday.
The stolen car remains missing, the registration is S363ACC anyone with information should call the police assistance line on 131 444.
WOMAN ARRESTED IN STOLEN CAR
A woman was charged after police caught her in an allegedly stolen car at Torrensville.
The Mitsubishi SUV was noticed bearing false plates by police on Denver Dr about 1.30am on Thursday morning.
The patrol did not attempt to stop the car, and instead called in the PolAir police helicopter.
The Mitsubishi was followed along Port Wakefield Rd, Salisbury Highway and Port River Expressway, before being successfully spiked on South Rd at Torrensville.
The car continued for a short time after being spiked but crashed into a light post on Ashwin Pde.
The driver, a 23-year-old Parafield Gardens woman, allegedly attempted to run from the scene but was caught and arrested.
She was not injured, but the Mitsubishi sustained major damage.
The car was allegedly stolen from Hillcrest on July 4.
The driver was charged with illegal use and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on September 23.
WEDNESDAY JULY 28
FATAL CRASH AT BAROOTA
A 40-year-old man and 61-year-old woman from Whyalla Norrie have been killed in a serious car crash at Baroota on the Augusta Highway.
The crash, at about 3.40pm Wednesday, also injured two passengers – a 14-year-old boy and an 11-year-old boy from Whyalla Playford.
TEEN THIEF NABBED
A 13-year-old boy has been arrested with a bottle of cologne in his pants after he was caught going through a car north of the city overnight.
Just after 3am, police were called to Faith Road at Davoren Park after the owner of a Toyota sedan found five teens going through the car.
The group ran off but the boy was held by the owner, who found his mobile phone and wallet had been taken.
Officers searched the boy and found the bottle of cologne, which belonged to the victim, down his pants.
The 13-year-old, from Davoren Park, was charged with illegal interference and theft, and has been bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Youth Court in September.
Anyone who wakes on Wednesday morning to discover their car has been broken into should call the Police Assistance Line on 131 444.
DRINK DRIVER FOUND ASLEEP
A driver almost six times over the legal blood alcohol limit was found asleep in his crashed car on Wednesday morning.
Just after 5.30am, police were called to the corner of East Terrace and South Terrace in the CBD after the man was spotted in a smashed Honda Civic.
When officers arrived, they found the driver, a 28-year-old Klemzig man, fast asleep at the wheel.
They woke the man and he underwent a breath test, allegedly returning a reading of 0.287.
He was reported for drink driving, lost his licence for 12 months and had his car impounded for 28 days.
The man will be summonsed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court at a later date.
SUSPICIOUS BOAT FIRE AT STURT
Police believe a fire that broke out in a boat at Sturt was deliberately lit.
The alarm was raised about 3am Wednesday on Parkmore Ave, after reports the boat was ablaze.
Neighbours extinguished the fire with garden hoses but the boat had been substantially damaged.
Police believe the incident was an arson attack and are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
TAXI DRIVER LOSES LICENCE
A taxi driver has lost his licence for 12 months and his car has been impounded after he was caught drink driving in the northern suburbs.
Just after 9.30pm Tuesday, firefighters discovered a taxi in the middle of Hampstead Road at Clearview.
It appeared to have been abandoned after it ran out of fuel.
A police patrol was nearby and, after an investigation, they found the driver of the taxi at his home address.
The man underwent breath testing and recorded a reading of 0.261 – more than five times the limit.
The driver, a 43-year-old from Northfield, was reported for drink driving and breaching the Emergency Management Act, and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
He was also issued a 12-month immediate loss of licence, and his car was impounded for 28 days.
TUESDAY, JULY 27
POLICE HUNT WANTED MAN
Police are appealing to the public to help locate wanted man Kym Nyenhuis.
Nyenhuis is from Reid, near Gawler, and is wanted for breaching conditions of his home detention bail.
He faced Elizabeth Magistrates Court in June, after police allegedly found him sleeping in a stolen ute at Smithfield on June 7.
They allegedly uncovered two glass pies, and a variation of drugs including meth, as well as two sets of scales upon searching the car.
He was released on home detention bail and was set to reappear in court on September 1.
It is understood Nyenhuis has access to a firearm, and police warn he may pose a risk to the community.
He is described as 190cm tall, slim build, with a fair complexion.
He has a long blond mullet and blue eyes.

WHEELCHAIR STOLEN
An electric wheelchair has been stolen from the rear yard of a home in Adelaide’s inner west overnight.
Some time between 10pm Monday and 7am Tuesday, the wheelchair was taken from a home at Richmond.
Police said it has special features to assist the victim’s mobility. Anyone who spots the wheelchair is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
LIFE-THREATENING INJURIES AFTER ASSAULT
A woman was taken to hospital with life-threatening head injuries after a domestic assault on the Yorke Peninsula.
Police were made aware of the incident about 12.30pm Monday, after the 37-year-old woman was taken by paramedics to the Wallaroo Hospital.
She was later transferred to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

BIKE SHOP BREAK-IN
A man has been arrested after a bike shop was broken into south of the city overnight.
Just after 6am Tuesday, police were called to a shop on Marion Road at Marion following reports an alarm was sounding.
They searched the area and found a man riding a brand new bike west along nearby Norfolk Road.
The rider, a 34-year-old from Semaphore Park, is expected to be charged with serious criminal trespass, theft and breaching the Emergency Management Act.
He was refused bail and will front the Christies Beach Magistrates Court later on Tuesday.
THOUSANDS OF CIGARETTES FOUND
Thousands of cigarettes were found when police stopped a speeding car in the northern suburbs early on Tuesday morning.
Just after midnight, officers saw a silver Renault speeding along John Rice Ave at Elizabeth Vale.
They pulled the car over to speak with the driver, a 44-year-old Elizabeth Park man, about why he was speeding.
During a subsequent search, the found hundreds of individual packets of cigarettes, almost 100 cartons of cigarettes and more than $3000 in cash.
The man was arrested and charged with possessing tobacco, being unlicensed to possess tobacco products and unlawful possession.
He was bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court in September.
POLICE HUNT FOR SCOOTER THIEF
A bright yellow mobility scooter has been returned to its owner after it was stolen from a yard in Port Pirie over the weekend.
Between 10am and 4pm Sunday, the scooter, which is used daily, was taken from a home on Simpson Road.
A member of the public found the scooter parked behind a shed at Woodward Park on Monday afternoon.
Police were able to identify the scooter and return it to its owner.
They are asking anyone who saw a bright yellow scooter being ridden in the area, or anyone with information on the theft, to come forward.
MONDAY, JULY 26
FATAL CRASH AT SALISBURY HEIGHTS
A man has died after crashing into a tree at Salisbury Heights this morning.
Patrols and emergency crews were called to Main North Road just before 8.30am on Monday after a Commodore sedan hit a tree.
The driver and sole occupant, a 52-year-old from Kilburn, died at the scene.
Major Crash investigators are at the scene, and Main North Road remains closed to all southbound traffic, with diversions in place at John Rice Ave and Target Hill Road. Northbound traffic on Main North Road is operating without restrictions.
The man’s death is the 61st life lost on our roads as compared to 55 for this time last year.
STABBING AT PORT NOARLUNGA SOUTH
A man has been taken to hospital in a serious condition following a stabbing south of the city.
About 4am Monday, police were called to home on Oxford Street at Port Noarlunga South following reports of a “disturbance”.
On arrival, they found a 27-year-old man with stab wounds to his abdomen.

MAN STABBED AT ST MARY’S
A man was taken to hospital following a stabbing south of the city on Sunday evening.
About 5.30pm, emergency services were called to Rothesay Ave, St Mary’s, following reports a man was stabbed by people he knew.
On arrival, they found a 37-year-old man with a stab wound to his abdomen.

SUNDAY, JULY 25
ROBBERY AT MORPHETT VALE HOTEL
Police are investigating a robbery at a Morphett Vale hotel on Sunday night.
Around 6.30pm, a man armed with a knife entered the bottle shop of a hotel on Panalatinga Road and threatened staff.
The man stole the cash till and then ran across the road, where another man was waiting on a motorbike.
Both men rode off and were last seen travelling west along Bains Road. The motorbike is described as a red dirt bike.
No-one was injured and police have been searching the area.

DRILL RIG, HEAVY MACHINERY, STOLEN AT PORT AUGUSTA
Police have launched an investigation after multiple heavy duty items, including a drill rig frame, were stolen from a Port Augusta property.
The items that made up the drill rig, including a drill rig control room, would need a truck and crane to transport them, and were taken sometime between June 2020 and March 2021.
Police are investigating the theft, and ask anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the equipment to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

A motorcyclist was killed in a horror head-on crash with a truck at Tailem Bend.

MAN CRASHES INTO GARAGE AT INGLE FARM
A man has been taken to hospital after crashing into a garage and becoming stuck at Ingle Farm.
The car lost control on Sullivan Rd about 4am Sunday, and travelled across the front yard and came to a stop sideways, wedged in the front garage.
The driver, an Ingle Farm man, 34, was unable to get out of the car.
He was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries, and a sample of blood will be taken to see whether he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
State Emergency Services attended to assist with the damaged building, and the car was towed from the scene.
POLICE INVESTIGATE MULTIPLE PETROL DRIVE-OFFS
Police are investigating five separate petrol drive-offs in the northern suburbs in recent months, and believe they are linked to a break-in at Stirling in June.
A black Mazda 3 with unassigned number plates was involved in a petrol drive off at a service station on Grand Junction Rd at Hope Valley on May 24.
A man driving the same black Mazda 3 filled up and didn’t pay on June 3 at a servo on North East Rd at Greenacres, and a similar incident occurred at a Main North Rd premises on June 3 at Gepps Cross involving the same car.
In the same week, a man driving a red Ford Falcon, with the same unassigned plates the black Mazda was bearing in a previous drive off, did a petrol drive off from a service station on the corner of John Rice Ave and Commercial Rd at Elizabeth South.
A home on Twin St, Stirling, was broken in to on June 28, where a
large amount of property was stolen.
Thieves returned on July 11 and stole a Volkswagen Golf.
The following day, the red Ford Falcon, believed to be involved in an earlier petrol drive off, filled up without paying at the same Elizabeth South service station bearing number plates from the stolen Volkswagen Golf.
Police are investigating the incidents and believe they are linked.

RIVERLAND HOME DESTROYED IN FIRE
A house has been destroyed in a Riverland fire.
A resident called triple-0 to report his home on Hunter Rd, Waikerie, was ablaze about 10.15pm Saturday.
Fire crews arrived at the scene and found the entire home was engulfed in flames.
Crews stopped the fire spreading to surrounding properties but the home could not be saved, causing $300,000 damage.
Fire cause investigators will attend the scene to determine what sparked the blaze.
