Saturday, September 11

SERIOUS CRASH TEPKO

A mother and her two young children – including a baby – were injured in a car rollover in the Murray Mallee.

The vehicle lost control on Reedy Creek Rd at Tepko around 7am Saturday.

A boy, 3, who was a passenger in the vehicle, suffered several fractures and was flown to the Women’s and Children’s Hospital

His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Her baby girl, 1, and the female driver, 26, also suffered minor injuries and were taken to the Murray Bridge Hospital for treatment.

Reedy Creek Rd was closed between Tepko Rd and Tepko School Rd while police investigated the scene but has since reopened.

STOLEN CARS TORCHED

Two stolen cars were torched in separate arson attacks on Friday night and Saturday morning.

In the first incident, police and fire crews rushed to the scene on Port Gawler Rd at Port Gawler after reports of a car on fire at about 10.45pm Friday.

Crews contained the blaze but the car, a Ford sedan, was gutted.

The vehicle had been stolen from Kudla earlier on Friday night and the blaze was deemed suspicious.

At 6am Saturday, patrols driving along Wynn Vale spotted a car on fire in the car park of the Wynn Vale Oval.

Fire crews were called in to contain the blaze but the Ford was destroyed.

Police say the car had been stolen from Modbury North overnight and had been deliberately torched.

GOLD STOLEN IN THE HILLS

Police are investigating the theft of a number of gold bullions stolen from a Mt Barker home.

Sometime between July 28 and September 8, a suspect broke into the house and stole the gold from a safe inside the premises.

Friday, September 10

Covid BREACH

A woman has been arrested for allegedly breaching quarantine requirements, following previous cautions by SA Police.

Police received information from the public that a quarantining woman from New South Wales was breaching home quarantine requirements at Salisbury East.

They attended a Harris Rd home about 2pm Thursday, and allege the woman had left her home and had visitors attend the home.

She is understood to have travelled from NSW to SA on September 4.

She had previously been issued a caution, and one expiation notice for earlier breaches.

The woman. 58, was arrested and charged with breaching the Emergency Management Act.

She will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court via video link on Friday.

VIOLENT BUS PASSENGER SOUGHT

Police have released the image of a suspect who verbally abused a boy and threatened another woman with a knife on a public bus last month.

The female suspect was on board the M44 bus, travelling between the Marion Shopping Centre and the city between 2.50pm and 3.30pm when she verbally abused a teenage male.

Another female passenger intervened, before the suspect began verbally abusing her, and threatened her with a small knife.

No-one was injured and the suspect left the bus on Currie St.

COACH REPORTED AFTER SOCCER MATCH SCUFFLE

A junior team soccer coach has been reported after allegedly punching a linesman in the face at a weekend soccer game.

TRIO ARRESTED AFTER ROBBERY

A victim was threatened with a gun in a terrifying break-in and robbery at Andrews Farm.

Three people allegedly forced their way into a house on Stebonheath Rd and threatened the occupant about 11.30pm Thursday.

One of the suspects was armed with a shotgun.

The trio stole various items including a laptop, mobile phone and wallet, before fleeing in a white Mitsubishi Lancer.

The male victim was not injured.

Police searched the area and found the suspect vehicle on Whitaker St in Gawler South about 20 minutes later.

Upon seeing patrols, the suspects attempted to flee on foot but two were arrested.

A police helicopter was deployed, and the third suspect was found hiding in a backyard on Fourteenth St about 1.30am.

A Seaton man, 21, and another male and woman, both 20 from Hewett, were charged with serious criminal trespass, aggravated robbery, possessing firearm without a licence and unlawful possession.

They were refused bail and will appear in court on Friday.

Police say they located the property stolen in the robbery and the firearm in the suspect vehicle.

UTE ROLLOVER JERVOIS

A man has suffered serious injuries after rolling his car in a paddock near the River Murray.

The crash happened about 7.45am Thursday on Jervois Rd, at Jervois and emergency crews had to free the driver from the Mitsubishi Triton ute.

The Murray Bridge man, 25, was flown to the Flinders Medical Centre with serious but non life-threatening injuries.

Police are investigating the circumstances that led to the crash.

CANNABIS GROW HOUSE BUST AT WINGFIELD

A man has been arrested following the discovery of an extensive hydroponic cannabis grow facility in Wingfield.

Police searched an industrial premises on George St at Wingfield on Wednesday, finding a large hydroponic cannabis set-up in three cool rooms.

As a result of the search, 16 cannabis plants and about 6kg of dried cannabis was seized.

Police re-attended the premises on Thursday and seized equipment allegedly used to grow and dry cannabis.

A 47-year-old Sturt man was arrested at his home and charged with trafficking and drug offences.

MAN STABBED AT HUNTFIELD HEIGHTS

A man was arrested after he allegedly stabbed another man in the neck at Huntfield Heights on Monday.

An altercation occurred about 1.30am Monday between the victim, 65, and the accused, a 35-year-old of no fixed address, at Sherry Court.

The victim was taken to the Flinders Medical Centre, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

The arrested man was interviewed by detectives, and is expected to be charged with attempted murder on Thursday night.

He will likely appear in court on Friday, police said.

PURSUIT ENDS WITH SPIKES
A long pursuit through the northern and western suburbs has ended – thanks to road spikes – with two men being arrested.

Just before 9pm on Wednesday, a red Holden Commodore sedan was seen travelling on Salisbury Highway. Police suspected the driver had been involved in a robbery the day before, where a victim’s Subaru was stolen from Direk.

The police helicopter was called in and took over the pursuit, following the sedan through the northern suburbs. The car continued at speed travelling into Woodville North and Mile End.

About 10.15pm the car was successfully spiked on Holbrooks Rd at Underdale.

The car slowed and eventually came to a stop on Eastern Parade at Ottoway. The driver dumped the Holden and climbed into a waiting BMW.

Special Task and Rescue Group members quickly stopped the BMW on the corner of Grand Junction and Hanson roads, and arrested the two occupants.

A 28-year-old man from Andrews Farm was arrested for a parole board warrant and will face numerous other charges, including traffic offences and robbery. The Subaru was later recovered by police at an Andrews Farm address.

A 30-year-old man from Woodville North was charged with assisting an offender. He was refused police bail to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court today (Thursday, September 9).

DRINK-DRIVER CAUGHT THREE TIMES OVER

A man has been arrested after being caught allegedly drink-driving at more than three times the legal limit, at Regency Park.

Police will allege that just before 2am on Thursday, patrols were called to Days Rd after reports of a black Ford Territory driving on damaged tyres, with one of the rims causing sparks to fly over the road.

Patrols pursued the car, which was only able to travel slowly due to the damaged tyres, as it headed north and then through the backstreets of Croydon Park, before it mounted the kerb on Days Rd and stopped about 10 minutes after police had first spotted it.

The driver, a 22-year-old Broadview man underwent a breath test, which returned a positive reading of 0.167, police say.

He was charged with numerous traffic offences including driving under the influence, driving an unregistered and uninsured motor vehicle and failing to stop for police.

He was bailed to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on 12 October.


SUSPECT’S BRAGGING LEADS TO ARREST
A member of the public helped police track down two suspects wanted over a robbery at Seacombe Gardens on Wednesday.

About 4.30pm on Wednesday, a boy was at a park on Harbrow Grove when he was assaulted by a group of males before they stole his shoes and bag. The boy was treated at the Flinders Medical Centre for minor injuries.

About an hour later, a member of the public who was travelling on a city-bound train overheard a group of teens talking about a robbery.

They alerted police to the conversation and officers were able to intercept the group as the train arrived at the Adelaide Railway Station.

A teenage boy in the group was found to be in possession of the victim’s bag.

Two 16-year-old boys from Morphett Vale and Sturt have been arrested and charged with robbery. They have been refused bail to appear in the Adelaide Youth Court on Friday.

Wednesday, September 8

WOMAN SERIOUSLY INJURED AT FORESTVILLE

An elderly woman is in a serious condition after her bike and a truck collided at Forestville on Wednesday morning.

Just after 8am, police and emergency services were called to the intersection of Anzac Highway and Maple Ave, following reports a truck and cyclist had collided.

The rider, a 70-year-old Adelaide woman, was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

The driver of the truck, a 57-year-old Paralowie man, was not injured and is assisting police with their inquiries.

POLICE SEARCH FOR INJURED PERSON AT TWO WELLS
Police need the public’s help to find a person who may be injured in the Two Wells area, as they are concerned for their welfare.

Between 6.20am and 7.30am on Wednesday, someone wearing dark clothing was seen on Gawler Road.

This person appeared injured. The police helicopter and numerous other resources were used to search for them for most of the morning, but officers were unable to locate them.

Police are asking anyone that may have travelled through the Two Wells area during the above time frame and may have captured dashcam footage of this person to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

AGGRAVATED ROBBERY MAWSON LAKES

Two men have been arrested after allegedly holding three students at gunpoint in a terrifying attempted robbery at Mawson Lakes.

The students were walking on University Boulevard at Mawson Lakes about 7.15pm when they were approached by a car.

The occupants asked them for directions, before a man produced a handgun and demanded cash.

The victims said they didn’t have any cash, and the suspects drove off, heading south on University Boulevard.

The group called police and provided a description of the car and part of the registration number.

A vehicle matching the description was identified as having been involved in a fuel drive-off at Para Hills earlier that day.

STAR group officers and police dogs arrested two men aged 28 and 25 from Elizabeth South.

They were bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

TOILET BLOCK FIRE AT GOLDEN GROVE

A 14-year-old has been charged with arson after allegedly setting fire to a toilet block at a high school.

Police responded to a fire alarm at Golden Grove High School on Adey Place at about 7.20pm Tuesday.

Fire crews arrived and found smoke coming from the toilet block on the school grounds.

It appeared toilet paper had been set alight but was doused by the building’s sprinklers.

A boy, 14, was found at the scene and arrested. He was charged with arson and will appear in the Elizabeth Youth Court next month.

SERIOUS ASSAULT ON GROTE ST

An elderly man is fighting for life after allegedly being punched in a city assault.

The West Croydon man, 89, was walking down Grote St about 1pm Tuesday when he was allegedly punched causing him to fall to the ground and hit his head.

He was rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with a serious head injury and remains there with life-threatening injuries.

A man at the scene, 33, was arrested and taken to the RAH for assessment.

Police are yet to speak to the suspect, but expect he will be charged with aggravated assault.

DRUGS, FIREARMS IN PORT PIRIE

Three people have been reported after cannabis and firearms were found in two homes at Port Pirie.

Police were called to a disturbance at a Kingston Rd property about 7.15pm Monday.

On arrival, patrols allegedly could smell cannabis and saw a shopping bag at the door containing the drug.

A subsequent search uncovered a large amount of drug paraphernalia, and about 150g of cannabis.

Two occupants of the home, a man, 34, and a woman, 39, were reported for trafficking a controlled drug, possessing of a controlled drug and possessing equipment.

A third man who was present at the address was taken back to his Port Pirie West home, which police searched.

They uncovered three unregistered gel blasters, 150g of cannabis and drug paraphernalia.

A man, 40, was reported for firearms offences and trafficking a controlled drug.

All three will appear in court at a later date.

POLICE SAVE ELDERLY MAN FROM SCAMMERS

An elderly man’s illegal U-turn has saved him thousands of dollars.

Police stopped a driver about 11am Monday on King William St in the city after he was seen attempting to make an unauthorised turn.

Patrols decided to educate the North Adelaide driver, 84, about road rules.

When they asked him why he was in the city, the man said he was looking for a specific bank to deposit a large amount of money.

He had fallen victim to a scam after receiving a phone call from someone claiming to be from a major bank.

The scammer said he was from the bank’s fraud section, and that two illegal transactions had been made from the prospective victim’s account.

The man was directed to assist in “catching the criminals” and the scammers asked he withdraw a large amount of cash, and deposit it into another account.

Police alerted the man that he had been scammed, and no money was transferred.

Scammers often contact people by phone or internet, and police warn to never give personal, credit card or online account details over the phone unless the call and phone number come from a trusted source.

ANTIQUE STORE ROBBED

Two display cabinets were smashed and jewellery stolen in an overnight break-in at a Glenelg antique store.

A nearby resident heard an alarm from the Anzac Highway store and saw a vehicle leaving the scene just before 5am Tuesday.

Police attended and found the front door of the store had been jemmied opened, and items stolen.

The two suspects left in a black Hilux or ute, before doing a U-turn and heading east on Anzac Highway.

Anyone who saw the vehicle or suspicious activity at Glenelg should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

SUSPICIOUS FIRE AT EDWARDSTOWN

Police are investigating a suspicious fire at Edwardstown.

Just after 9am on Tuesday, September, police and MFS crews were called to the property in Raglan Ave, after reports of a large fire.

The blaze was extinguished by fire crews, but caused extensive damage to the unoccupied property.

Investigators suspect the fire may have been deliberately lit about 7.30am.

No one was injured.

SPORTS STORE BREAK-IN

Two suspects have smashed the front window of a sports store with a hammer before making off with clothing at Findon.

Police were alerted to the alarm sounding at the store on Grange Rd about 1am Tuesday.

It was found that intruders had stolen armfuls of Nike clothing before fleeing the scene.

CCTV revealed the two suspects were males, wearing hoods, and with masks covering their faces.

Police searched the area but could not find them.

FIERY CRASH AT PARA HILLS WEST
Police are investigating a crash at Para Hills West on Tuesday, during which a car rolled and burst into flames.

Emergency services were called to Main North Rd, Para Hills West, just after 6.30am.

A car had clipped the front of a truck and rolled across the median strip.

It was well alight and blocking northbound traffic when emergency services arrived at the scene.

Fortunately the car driver, a 34-year-old Pooraka man, was able to free himself from the vehicle and sustained only minor injuries.

He was taken by ambulance to the Lyell McEwin Hospital.

The truck driver, a 35-year-old St Marys man, was not injured and there was only minor damage to his vehicle. Investigations are continuing.

Monday, September 6

POLICE SEIZE CANNABIS AT DAW PARK

A large cannabis crop of 26 plants and 7.7kg of dried marijuana was found by police during a search of a Daw Park home.

An anonymous tip off led to police searching the home at 1pm on Monday.

No suspects were at the property when the drugs and hydroponic equipment were seized.

Police ask anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

SUSPECTED HIT-RUN AT MILLICENT

A driver has been charged after a suspected hit-run crash at Millicent that left a pedestrian with serious injuries.

Police responded to reports of cars revving on Ridge Tce about 11.30pm on Saturday.

A second call reported a man had collapsed in the bushes near the road.

A local man, 56, was found with serious leg and hip injuries.

He was rushed to the Mt Gambier Hospital for treatment before being flown to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

A short time later, police found a white Holden Sedan with crash damage on nearby Adelaide Rd. The man in the car, 23, was spoken to and taken to hospital for a blood test.

He was charged with traffic offences, and will appear in the Millicent Magistrates Court in December.

HOUSE FIRE AT HAPPY VALLEY

Two people were treated by paramedics after waking to their home ablaze at Happy Valley.

The fire alarm at the Tripoli Rd home sounded about 11.30am Monday, with the front room of the home in flames.

Two occupants were woken by the alarm.

Fire crews took 15 minutes to extinguish the fire and prevented it spreading to other rooms.

Both occupants suffered smoke inhalation, and one had minor burns to their arms.

They did not require treatment in hospital.

The fire was deemed accidental, and the damage to the front room was valued at $20,000.

MAN DIES IN WORKPLACE INCIDENT

A man has died in a workplace incident at a Coober Pedy mine site.

Police and forensic investigators attended the scene and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.

FOOT CHASE AT RIDLEYTON

A man has been arrested after a violent incident that ended in a foot chase at Ridleyton.

Police say a food van parked at a premises was broken into on South Rd about 1am Monday, with the arrested man allegedly attempting to steal items inside.

The victim confronted the suspect, who allegedly assaulted him before fleeing on a bicycle.

The victim, 24, gave chase while calling police, and was able to update patrols on the man’s location.

Police arrested a Seaton man, 48, on nearby Coglin St, and charged him with being unlawfully on premises, theft and assault,

He was bailed to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court in October.

POLICE ASSAULTED AND MAN TASERED

A man has been tasered by police after allegedly assaulting two police officers at Mitchell Park on Saturday night.

At 11.10pm, police were called to a hotel on Marion Rd after reports of an assault.

When officers arrived, witnesses directed them to a man in the carpark.

He allegedly became aggressive and did not comply with their requests when they approached.

As the officers attempted to arrest the man he allegedly resisted, biting the female officer on the leg.

Police tasered the man and eventually were able to place him under arrest, but the male officer sustained an injured wrist.

The 18-year-old Morphett Vale man was taken to the Flinders Medical Centre as a precaution before being charged with assault and two counts of assault on a prescribed emergency worker.

He was refused bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on Monday.

Both officers were taken to the Wakefield Hospital for treatment.

TWO BIKES STOLEN AT KNIFEPOINT IN SALISBURY

Police are investigating a robbery at Salisbury on Saturday, where two boys had their bikes stolen.

Just before 3pm, patrols were called to the Parabanks Shopping Centre on John St after reports three boys had been riding their bikes around the western side of the underground carpark when approached by three other male youths.

One of the suspects threatened the victims with a knife, demanding they hand over their bikes.

Two of the boys gave their bikes to the suspects, who rode off in a westerly direction. The victims were not injured.

The first suspect is described as being of Aboriginal appearance, 185cm tall, slim build and was wearing a black cap backwards, a white hooded jacket with the hood over the cap and “SECURITY” written on the back, dark-coloured pants and red Adidas shoes.

The second suspect is described as around 10-11 years old, Aboriginal appearance, slim build, and was wearing a red and black jumper with the hood over his head, black shorts and a black Chicago Bulls hat with a red logo.

The third suspect is described as being of Aboriginal appearance, 170cm tall, slim build, about 15 years old, and was wearing black pants, a red shirt and a black cap.

The two bikes, a blue/white Redman Tomahawk BMX and a matt black BMX bike with a large rear tyre were later returned to the victims.

CAR TORCHED IN MT BARKER

A car has been torched overnight at Mt Barker.

Just before 1.30am on Sunday, patrols and fire crews were called to an area of vacant land behind a supermarket on Wellington Rd, where a Subaru station wagon was on fire.

Fire fighters extinguished the blaze but not before the car was destroyed.

DRINK DRIVER HITS FENCE
A drink driver will face court after crashing his car at Brahma Lodge on Sunday morning.

At 1am, police were called to Aberdeen Crescent after a Toyota sedan travelling north had failed to negotiate a right-hand turn and crashed into a tree and a fence.

When police arrived they spoke to the driver, a 28-year-old Brahma Lodge man, who was not injured but allegedly returned a positive breath test of 0.116.

He was reported for drive without due care and drink driving and lost his licence on the spot for six months. His car was towed from the scene and he will be summonsed to appear in court later.

POLICE DOG AIDS ARREST AT CONSTRUCTION SITE

A man has been arrested after being caught on a construction site early Sunday at Rosewater.

Just before 2.30am, police were called to Russell St after a man was seen on security cameras.

When patrols arrived, a man matching the description ran off east along Russell St before officers set up cordons and called in police dog Arnie and his handler.

The suspect was tracked to the roof of a garage nearby in Russell St by PD Arnie and arrested.

The 48-year-old from Pennington has been charged with unlawfully being on premises and breach of bail. Investigations are continuing to determine if anything was stolen from the construction site. The accused was refused bail and will front the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday.
