SA Police investigate after Pennington gift shop was rammed with car and deliberately set alight

After a spate of arson attacks on small businesses across SA – many of them on tobacco stores – police have revealed they are investigating another serious incident.

The Advertiser, 7NEWS Adelaide: Rosewater arson attack, Trump rally arrest

Detectives are investigating a suspicious fire at a gift shop at Pennington, in Adelaide’s north.

On Tuesday, just before 5am, a member of the public reported an incident on Addison Rd.

It is understood a vehicle was driven into the front of the shop, causing significant damage to the building’s structure.

After the crash, the shop was damaged further when flames from a mattress at the front of the business was doused in an accelerant and lit.

Crime Scene officers will be examining the scene on Tuesday morning.

Police revealed last month they were investigating whether at least a dozen arson attacks or attempted attacks across the state were linked to a lucrative tobacco war.

Then on Monday, there was an attempted arson attack on a tobacco shop on Grand Junction Rd, Rosewater.

That came just a day after a suspected arson attack on another tobacco shop in Stonyfell, while on the same day a Flinders Park real estate business was targeted for the second time in a row.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000 or online.
