A man and woman have been arrested after one allegedly discharged a firearm at police during a high-speed chase from the Eyre Peninsula to Adelaide’s north on Saturday morning.

Police will allege in court a 31-year-old man discharged a small-calibre firearm before being safely apprehended by police after the stolen car was located in the northern suburbs.

The silver Kia was tracked at extreme speeds across the Eyre Peninsula and through the Mid-North.

The PolAir helicopter was deployed as police tried to spike the vehicle’s tyres multiple times as it headed towards the Adelaide area.

The stolen vehicle stopped on Lysander Pl in Salisbury East about midday, and the two occupants allegedly tried to flee on foot.

It’s alleged the man then fired the gun at police but was quickly arrested. The man was taken to hospital for assessment.

SAPOL said no officers were injured during the arrest, nor were shots fired by any officers. The firearm has been seized by police.

A 31-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman were arrested. The man remains in hospital and is expected to face several serious charges in a bedside hearing.

The woman was charged with serious criminal trespass and illegal use. She was refused police bail and is set to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Monday.

Investigations are continuing and police are requesting anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage of the vehicle to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or on their website.
