Police need at least four months to finalise their case against an Aldinga Beach couple charged over the fiery death of a beloved mother.

In the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Thursday morning, prosecutors said they needed at least 16 weeks to gather the final evidence brief against Anastasia Marshall and her lover Jonathan Parker.

The two have been charged over the death of Aldinga Beach mother – and Anastasia’s former wife – Krystal Marshall, whose body was found after a house fire in their family home in October last year.

Mr Parker, 59, has been charged with murder, destroying human remains to pervert the course of justice and arson.

Ms Marshall, 30, was charged with murder, however the charge was withdrawn in July.

She is now charged with assisting an offender, arson and destroying human remains.

Emergency services were called to an Aldinga Beach home in October last year following reports of a house fire.

Fire crews extinguished the blaze and when they checked the home, they found Krystal’s body.

Fire investigators attended the scene to determine the cause of the blaze and following the investigation, Southern District Detectives arrested Mr Parker at the same address and charged him with murder. Police then arrested Anastasia in February.

During bail applications for his co-accused, the court previously heard Mr Parker had been in a relationship with Anastasia Marshall when the two allegedly murdered Krystal.

It is also understood Mr Parker had been asked to move out of the Aldinga Beach address where he and the two women were living.

In court on Thursday, Chief Magistrate Mary-Louise Hribal heard prosecutors still needed affidavits and witness statements from SA Police, and information from E-crimes detectives.

“There are still outstanding statements from witnesses, and E-crime analysis of three mobile phones and the CCTV footage,” the prosecutor said.

Stephen Ey, for Mr Parker, said no negotiations had been made with prosecutors.

Judge Hribal adjourned the matter to December, where both Ms Marshall and Mr Parker are expected to formally enter pleas.

During a press conference about the incident, Major Crime Superintendent Des Bray said police were not searching for any other people in relation to the matter.

“The allegation will be that together those two people, and those two people alone, are responsible for the death of Krystal,” he said.
