A man killed in a horrific single-vehicle crash in Adelaide’s outer northern suburbs is being remembered as someone who went above and beyond for everyone he knew.
Adrian Buechman, 53, of North Haven, died after his car smashed into a bridge support in Edinburgh about 6.20am Monday, November 18.
He was the sole occupant of the silver Mitsubishi which was left a crumpled wreck at the scene on Purling Ave.
Mr Buechman – lovingly known as Buecs to friends and family – was a member of the former Ethelton Football Club – now Portland Football Club – where his funeral will be livestreamed on Thursday.
One heartfelt post described Mr Buechman as “one of the most important” men in their life, who had been there for him from his earliest memories.
“I will forever cherish the memories of you and appreciate everything you did for not only my brother and I but also for our mates,” it read.
“You went above and beyond for everyone you loved and we won’t forget that.
“I will miss you more than anything … you were a true legend and I promise to keep your memories alive.”
Due to the huge turnout expected for Mr Buechman’s funeral, it will be a private celebration with his family at the funeral home but the service will be livestreamed at the Portland Football Club from 1pm Thursday.
Friends and former teammates led the tributes for the man known to have a “legendary” kicking style and for having a sneaky cigarette at half time.
“He was a rippa. That kicking style is legendary – imagine watching him in the warm up, seeing the way he kicks it and hoping you’re standing him,” one friend wrote.
“Then he gets 40 disposals, three goals and you can’t lay a tackle on the guy.
“RIP Buechy.”
Another described Mr Buechman as a gentleman both on and off the field.
A North Haven Cricket Club Player, Mr Buechman was a member of the 2009/10F Troop premiership and played 74 games for the Seagulls.
Mr Buechman was the 79th life lost on South Australian roads this year.
