A pedophile who planned to abuse a six-year-old boy in a hotel also committed a heinous act on his dog, a court heard.

Nathan Robert Feirclough, 25, was jailed for four years after a judge rejected his claims that he is not sexually attracted to children and animals.

During sentencing, the District Court heard a covert police officer joined the Kik group “Adelaide Beast (Everything Goes)” in May last year.

A member of the group inquired whether there were any canine active people, to which Feirclough posted a live stream of himself committing beastiality with his dog.

The court heard the undercover officer initiated a private conversation with Feirclough and they discussed sexual activity between himself, the undercover officer and the officer’s fictitious six-year-old nephew.

To say that the communications are deeply confronting would be an understatement,” Judge Anthony Allen said.

Judge Allen said Feirclough initially showed some nervousness about it occurring but eventually said “f*** it, hurry up. I keep overthinking it, what happens happens”.

Police arrived at the hotel where Feirclough had arranged to meet them on June 21 and was arrested.

The court heard a video of Feirclough committing bestiality with his dog was found on his phone.

“Police located communications between yourself and another man where the two of you would discuss sexual activity with both children and animals,” Judge Allen said.

Feirclough, of Salisbury, pleaded guilty to committing bestiality and communicating with the intention of procuring a child for sexual activity.

Judge Allen said he rejected Feirclough’s claims to a psychologist that he was not sexually attracted to children and animals as it was determined he satisfied the diagnostic criteria for pedophilic disorder.

The court heard Feirclough was very depressed and experiencing a situational crisis at the time of the offending.

“It would seem that your routine was disrupted which in part may have contributed to your very poor decision making at the time of this offending,” Judge Allen said.

The court heard Feirclough was diagnosed with autism at a young age and was “mercilessly” bullied at school due to his learning disability and homosexuality.

The court heard Feirclough was previously working as a manager at Australia Post in a corporate office but accepted it was now unlikely he could return to that employment.

Judge Allen sentenced Feirclough to four years jail, with a non-parole period of two years and three months.

The sentence was backdated to June 21.
