A man has been jailed for over five years after a night of drinking led him to commit multiple home invasions across Adelaide.

Emmanuel Kanga Samuel, 22, has limited memory of his offending after he conspired with alleged accomplices to rob multiple houses.

Samuel, of Munno Para West, was charged alongside three co-accused over the terrifying crime spree.

Police allege the men began their crime spree around 1am on October 9 in Ingle Farm when they broke into a house and demanded cash from the 25-year-old occupant.

The group left the home empty-handed in a silver sedan, but were allegedly seen shortly after running from a house at Windsor Gardens, before fleeing in the same sedan.

Samuel and the other men allegedly stole wireless earbuds and a smart watch from that house, with the occupant not home at the time.

Around an hour later, the 30-year-old occupant of a Hendon address heard a loud bang at the front of his house and on investigation, discovered the front window had been smashed and the front door damaged.

The court heard Samuel and the group did not gain entry, but weren’t done yet.

Just before 3am, the 73-year-old occupant of a West Lakes house woke to noises and saw a figure at her bedroom door.

The woman arose and discovered her handbag and keys had been stolen.

PolAir tracked the car from above along the Port River Expressway and Elder Smith Dr before it stopped on Grasswren Way and five people, including Samuel, ran from the car.

Police searched the car and found the keys from the West Lakes home along with gloves, knife and alcohol.

A victim impact statement was read to the District Court in December by the prosecutor.

One of the victims said he still has flashbacks of being assaulted during the home invasion and now suffers from increased stress, anxiety and signs of paranoia.

“I’ve become too stressed to leave the house, while at the same time too stressed and too vulnerable to stay in the house,” he said.

Samuel pleaded guilty to multiple charges of serious criminal trespass and theft.

The court previously heard Samuel’s blood-alcohol reading on the night was 0.18 and he had very little memory of the offending.

Judge Rauf Soulio sentenced Samuel to five years and 10 months jail, with a non-parole period of two years and six months.

The sentence was backdated to October 9, 2022.
